Undisputed Era opening segment – HIT: This is a hit here. Adam Cole reiterated that the Undisputed Era is as strong as ever and they will all hold gold. Gargano came out to confront Cole, then Matt Riddle attacked Undisputed Era. Gargano charged the ring to help Riddle. Good opening segment to set up the main event.
Sean Maluta vs Mansoor – HIT: This was not a great match. However, it was a nice way to gets fans familiar with these competitors. Mansoor looked strong and was made to look good here.
Velveteen Dream & Tyler Breeze segment – HIT: They came out together and cut promos on each other. After a selfie photo, Breeze dropped Velveteen Dream. It’s nice to see Tyler Breeze having something to do. I dont’t believe he ends up taking the title from Dream, but it will be a nice little rivalry. This gives them both something interesting to do.
Candace LaRae vs. Reina Gonzalez – HIT: This is a hit as the match was booked for LaRae to look really good. It would be nice if we could see her more. It was more or less meant to set up the angle that followed.
Io Shirai saves LaRae segment – HIT: This made Shirai seem very focused. She looked intense and driven, which makes her look strong, going into her title match at Takeover.
Johnny Gargano & Matt Riddle vs. Undisputed Era – HIT: This was a good match for TV. This gave all your top guys a spot in the main event and furthered the storylines. Cole and Strong assisted O’Reilly and Fish to get the win. Undisputed Era stood tall at the end. A good main event that anchored a segment heavy show.
FINAL THOUGHTS: This was a decent show. It was filled more with segments and promos than wrestling. However, that not a bad thing, as it advanced the current storylines. The Velveteen Dream and Tyler Breeze fued should be great and entertaining. With Adam Cole’s NXT Championship opportunity at Takeover, I’m interested in seeing how the Undisputed Era progresses. It would be a travesty to see any of these wrestlers in NXT be subjected to the creative and booking woes of the WWE main roster.
