SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
F1RST WRESTLING
DECEMBER 7, 2017
MINNEAPOLIS, MINN. AT UPTOWN VFW
REPORT BY JOHN MYHERS, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT
Show began at 8:00, room is to full capacity. Approximately 250+ in attendance. Crowd was enjoying thier beverages but were very familiar with the Minnesota pro wrestlers. Merch tables were set up to the right of venue. I purchased an Arik Cannon shirt.
(1) Ryan Cruz defeated Wild Cat, Brubaker, Scott Story, Giant Griffin, and Thunder Frog in six-way scramble match. (15m)
(2) Su Yung defeated Rain in a Fest Championship match with a Mandible Claw win 17:00. Stiff action. Interesting theatrics from Yung, a mix of Muta and Marilyn Manson.
(3) All Ego Ethan Page defeated Jimmy Jacobs and AirWolf in a triple threat match when Page pinned Wolf after Jacobs hit his Contra Code finisher in 12:00. Page opportunistically obtained the pin, right place right time. Crowd was heating up for this. Ego is very good. Jacobs has not lost a step. Air Wolf is a Cannon student, he has great promise.
*** Brief Intermission ***
(4) Zero Gravity defeated Besties in the World to win The Pro Wrestling Revolver Tag Team Titles in 15:00. Recent working relationship between the two promotions is a great thing for midwest pro wrestling fans. This match had tons of excellent tag team action. I am not familiar with these talents but it was a good match.
(5) Cass 300 defeated Deputy Justice in 5:00. Comedy type match. The pacing/organization of the show is perfect.
Wrestlepalooza Champion Arik Cannon was introduced next only to be jumped by Darin Corbin. This eventually led to impromptu tag team main event as:
(6) Tommy Dreamer & Arik Cannon defeated Darin Corbin & Abyss in a Monster’s Ball match when Dreamer pinned Corbin with a Death Valley Driver in 20:00. Chairs, Ladders, Blood, Thumbtacks. It was a fun brawl to top off the show. Darin Corbin chewed out Abyss after his defeat and ended up with two Black Hole Slams.
FINAL THOUGHTS: Excited for future of Minneapolis Indies. They put on a fun show with an “educated” crowd albeit not too sober. I am particularly looking forward to seeing Sami Callihan bring some fresh talents north. This was money well spent. Next show for me is Wrestlepalooza at First Avenue.
F1rst Wrestling returns to Uptown VFW March 22 with Sami Callihan and Rachael Ellering announced. Definitely going to that.
Wrestlepalooza returns to First Ave in Minneapolis, Minn. on Saturday, Jan. 6 with Shane Strickland, Chuck Taylor, Candice LeRae, and All Ego Ethan Page. Follow @f1rstwrestling @arikcannon
