“WHO DISPUTES THE UNDISPUTED”
The new era of NXT continues to make headlines, having already left a path of destruction since their official debut at Takeover Brooklyn. Last week, they brought the boots to the U.K. division after Pete Dunne successfully defended his United Kingdom championship against Wolfgang. Instead of helping his fellow division mate out, Dunne opted to snag his title and run to the dressing room leaving Wolfgang to suffer the wrath of the Undisputed. Fortunately for Wolfgang, Mustache Mountain came to the save. (Tyler Bate and Trent Seven.) This will eventually lead to a showdown between the young Brits and reDRagon, but as for tonight the mind games continue.
Another group that is looking for redemption over Adam Cole & company is SANITY. Since they shocked the Authors of Pain and won the NXT Tag belts they’ve barely had time to celebrate with the ensuing beat downs they’ve received from O’Reilly and Fish. Eric Young declared war against the culprits, but they’ve yet to make a strong enough play to make an impact.
Meanwhile NXT Champion Drew McIntyre is still off television licking his wounds. Roderick Strong chose not to help when Drew was attacked, as he prepares to face the giant Scotsman in his first title defense. It’s all rather exciting that one faction can have such a ripple effect throughout the entire promotion, proving that this new world order of Wednesday nights are looking to hold much more than gold, they’re looking to take over. (Get it?)
“AS FOR THE REST OF THE SHEEP”
-Aleister Black returns for the first time since he conquered Hideo Itami at the Barclay’s Center. Black has been one of the most dominant forces in NXT, and he clearly is on the track to be the top dog in the promotion. He plans on speaking his mind tonight so that should be enough to invest you in this episode. However, the question must be asked: How long will it be before the Undisputed come for the Satanic Superstar?
-The Mae Young Classis has concluded and Kairi Sane is the first inaugural winner. This has given Sane a spot in Takeover Houston’s vacant women’s title scene. Who will join her? It seems that Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot would be good fits, especially since last week they “teamed” up to defeat the iconic duo in Peyton Royce and Billie Kaye. Don’t forget about Ember Moon, who may finally be able to take her place atop the division now that Asuka is off to the main roster.
-Kassius Ohno picked up a massive victory of Hideo Itami, and hopefully squashing their beef. Ohno may need to string along a few more victories before he can consider himself ready for another title shot though.
-Velveteen Dream continues to promise that he has his eye on someone, and that someone will feel his style very soon.
-Johnny Gargano picked up a huge victory over Riddick Moss last Wednesday. It wasn’t huge in the sense that Moss is a massive threat, but Johnny Wrestling’s confidence has been all over the place since Andrade Cien Almas defeated him at Takeover. If you’d forgotten, Cien’s manager Zolita Vegas tossed a DIY t-shirt at Johnny distracting him and reminding him of his past crushing relationship. I know we’ve still got time for Ciampa to fully heal from his injury, but when he returns I’m ALL IN on those two clashing.
-Can General Manager William Regal regain control of his promotion? It seems like he’ll have to enforce a lot more than ultimatums for the Undisputed to take him seriously.
Spoilers are out, but you should enjoy the ride spoiler free!
