NXT LIVE EVENT REPORT
JUNE 7, 2017
LEEDS, U.K.
REPORT BY MATT BARKER, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT
The arena had the middle and top tier curtained off, but those of us who were there made plenty of noise. The event started 30 minutes late as everyone was fully searched on the way in with the recent events in mind.
We started with a minute of silence for those effected by the horrible incidents in Manchester and London. Then in a big surprise Lillian Garcia came out to sing “God Save the Queen.” She made her way backstage afterward.
(1) Kassius Ohno beat Wolfgang. Nice hard-hitting match, ending with a big roaring elbow from Ohno.
(2) Jack Gallagher & Mark Andrews & Trent Seven defeated Tino Sobotelli & Riddick Moss & Lars Sullivan. British guys were over huge. Andrews hit the shooting star press on Tino for the win.
(3) Ruby Riot beat Nikki Cross with a spinning kick.
(4) Pete Dunne beat Roderick Strong. Dunne was insanely over and put on a really good match. The BruiserWeight was victorious with the Bitter End.
(5) Aleister Black beat Andrande Cien Almas and Eric Young in a really good match with a roundhouse kick on Almas.
To start of the second half, William Regal came out and got emotional thanking the fans, saying NXT is the most fun he has had in his 34 year career.
(6) Authors of Pain beat Sanity. No Paul Ellering, dissapointingly. Strange heel vs. heel dynamic. AOP hit their finish on Wolfe. Lots of chants of Damo for Dane.
(7) Asuka & Aliyah beat Peyton Royce & Billie Kay.
(8) Bobby Roode beat Drew McIntyre after a powerbomb from the top rope and then put both of his feet on the ropes for leverage. The “Glorious” gimmick is ridiculously popular with everyone singing to the music. Such a special entrance. Really good bout and could be amazing on a future Takeover event. After the match Drew hits the kick and holds up the title.
Final Thoughts: Overall, a really good night.
