SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

On January 27, 2014, C.M. Punk walked out of WWE before Raw TV in Cleveland, Ohio.

Nearly two years later, Punk returns to the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland for his UFC debut fight.

Punk has been through injuries, surgeries, an ongoing lawsuit, and now a weight-cut trying to make it inside the octagon for his first pro fight at UFC 203 on Saturday night.

Punk said in the build-up to the fight that simply making it to this point is a victory for himself. Whether he gets his hand raised against Mickey Gall on Saturday night remains to be seen.

Punk is a clear underdog against Gall in their Welterweight division fight. Oddsmakers believe Gall will end the fight in the first round, but Punk has remained confident in pre-fight media interviews that he will win.

The fight is slotted third from the top in the middle of the main UFC 203 PPV fight card. It will also be interesting to see what kind of business the PPV does with the combination of a “special attraction” bout like Punk vs. Gall paired up with Hvt. division co-main events.
