SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
WWE Raw GM Mick Foley announced before Raw that Finn Balor has relinquished the Universal Title due to his shoulder injury.
WWE will be addressing the status of the title at the start of Raw.
Balor went into Summerslam with a banged-up shoulder, which was exacerbated by Seth Rollins slamming Balor into into the barricade with a running bucklebomb.
WWE says Balor will be out for six months, requiring shoulder surgery.
Balor was the first-ever Universal champion, but his reign only lasted one day due to the injury.
Due to his injury, @StephMcMahon and I jointly accept @FinnBalor relinquishing of the @WWE Universal Championship. #Raw
