SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Former WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins appeared on ESPN Orlando Radio this week to promote the Money in the Bank PPV, WWE’s return to Orlando for a house show on Sunday, June 26, and WrestleMania 33 in Orlando in April 2017.
Rollins said on the “Kevin Sutton Show” that he hopes WM33 is a special event for him after being “heartbroken” missing WM32 earlier this year due to his knee injury.
As for MITB on Sunday, Rollins said he and Roman Reigns have the same mindset to try to top John Cena vs. A.J. Styles and the Money in the Bank ladder match earlier in the card. Rollins stressed that it will be his first televised match back in the ring. (Rollins has wrestled house show matches since returning from injury.)
Rollins was also asked about Sting’s recent comments calling Seth one of his best-ever opponents. “That’s very humbling words,” Rollins said. He said Sting had no reason or incentive to put him over, so for Sting to place him in the upper echelon of guys he’s worked with over a 30-year career is “incredible.”
Rollins ended up being Sting’s final opponent at the 2015 Night of Champions PPV in Houston. It was a dream match for Rollins, who said his ultimate dream match is facing Shawn Michaels. Rollins said he wishes he could “coax Shawn out of retirement” to have that match at WrestleMania.
As for his toughest career opponents, Rollins picked Big Show from WWE and Nigel McGuinness from Ring of Honor. Rollins said Nigel “hit me harder than anyone else I’ve ever wrestled in my life.” Rollins also named Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and Cesaro as tough, physical opponents who present different challenges in the ring.
