The latest from the final weeks of Chyna (Joanie Laurer)’s life is that her team reportedly reached out to WWE for rehab help and details were being worked out prior to her death.
According to filmmaker Rob Potylo speaking to TMZ, the team that was working on Laurer’s documentary became concerned with her health and mental state. Poytlo, who was reviewing the footage being shot for “The Reconstruction of Chyna,” said he reached out to Laurer’s attorney for a plan of action.
Portylo noted there were conversations with WWE to get her into rehab, but it was not in time. Portylo says after thinking about the videos as a cry for help, he feels badly they were not able to help her in time.
Meanwhile, Laurer’s manager Anthony Anzaldo was lining up a special for the TV show “Intervention.” There were plans to film an intervention at a rehab center, Anzaldo told TMZ in April.
Laurer is believed to have mixed pain medication and sleeping pills, which combined with a history of , appears to have caused her body to shut down. The official cause of death is still pending upon review by the L.A. County Coroner’s office.
