Video – WWE celebrity Amell says he was terrified of Summerslam match, wants to wrestle again

Actor Stephen Amell says he was terrified wrestling at last year’s Summerslam. He also felt more pressure because wrestling fans are hard on outsiders.

“It was absolutely, positively terrifying,” Amell told WSVN-TV entertainment reporter Chris Van Vliet in a sit-down interview promoting the new Ninja Turtles movie. “It was one of the most frightening things that I’ve ever done in my entire life. Despite that fact that I am an actor and I am used to being in front of crowds, I’m not necessarily used to live performances. I hadn’t been in that type of setting ever. The closest I had ever came was an event at Comic-Con, but those are my people.”

Amell teamed with Neville against Stardust and King Barrett in an undercard tag match that came off fine. Amell added his thoughts on how wrestling fans handled his involvement.

“As fantastic as wrestling fans are, and they really are, there is a little piece in all of them and a big piece in a lot of them that want all celebrity guests to fail mercifully. So, I could hear it, I could feel it, but then I think I pulled through,” Amell said. “I was very happy with the match. But, until I went back and watched it, I did not remember a thing.”

Amell said he would want to have another match. And, this time, fully embrace whatever he does in the ring because he felt “too for school” at times not wanting to do all of the moves he thought about doing in the ring.

The new “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” movie also features WWE star Sheamus as Rocksteady. The movie is due out June 3 in U.S. theaters.
