SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

AEW Rampage was viewed by 518,000 viewers, up from last week’s 482,000. This week’s show was back in the usual 10 est time slot on TNT. The key adult 18-49 demo rating was 0.19, down from last week’s 0.22. Like Smackdown, the men 18-34 rating dropped dramatically to a 0.11 from a 0.19.

Two major matches anchored the show. Adam Cole vs. Tomohiro Ishii in an Owen Hart Foundation tournament qualifying match opened the show. Both men exchanged heavy blows in the match. Jay White interfered in the end, allowing Cole to hit the Boom and cover for the victory.

Cole and White were both a part of last week’s major announcement on Dynamite from Tony Khan. Cole was the man to reveal the details of the Forbidden Door show in Chicago with New Japan Pro Wrestling. After, he announced Jay White, who walked on the stage and cut a promo about his involvement with the event.

In the main event, Jade Cargill defended her TBS Championship against Marina Shafir. Shafir worked over Cargill’s knee throughout the bout, but Cargill overcame for a clean win. The match featured a stiff spot in which Cargill slammed Shafir through a table on the outside of the ring. This win was Cargill’s 30th in AEW.

Other segments on AEW Rampage included Daniel Garcia vs. Eddie Kingston. Members of The Jericho Appreciation Society were not allowed to be in the building for the match. In addition, Lance Archer took on Serpentico and Hook spoke for this first time ever in a backstage segment with Danhausen.
