Tony Khan says that a weekly TV show and its own distribution is the ultimate end game for Ring of Honor. In an interview with TV Insider, Khan spoke in detail about the ROH acquisition, his hopes for the company under his leadership, and possibly creating consumer confusion in the marketplace.
“I think the end game is for Ring of Honor to have its own weekly TV and own distribution,” Khan said of ROH. “Right now, there are so many great wrestlers in Ring of Honor that I think it makes sense to utilize them in our lineup of shows to keep those championship belts at the forefront and keep those champions in the spotlight. We’ve had great support from WarnerMedia utilizing many different stars from wrestling companies all over the world. We’re very excited to have top stars and great champions from Ring of Honor in AEW also. We have ongoing conversations about the future distribution of the Ring of Honor shows.”
“I want to try to honor its history while doing everything I can to make it the most successful business it can be and grow Ring of Honor to new heights,” Khan said. “I think I bought the company at the right time. I think the company was really hurt by the pandemic. Now is a great time for Ring of Honor to make a comeback. We had great returns for Supercard of Honor. It wildly exceeded expectations and projections as far as ticket sales and pay-per-view buys.”
ROH Supercard of Honor featured Jonathan Gresham vs. Bandido for the Undisputed ROH World Championship and FTR vs. The Briscoes in a tag team dream match. Supercard of Honor was the first ROH show under Tony Khan’s leadership.
