Flair and Rousey collided at WrestleMania 38. Flair won the match via pinfall after multiple distractions on her behalf. This was Rousey’s first loss since returning to WWE at the Royal Rumble in January. Rousey won the women’s Royal Rumble match and chose to face Flair at WrestleMania for the title.
Flair and Rousey also wrestled at Survivor Series in 2018. Rousey won that match, but Charlotte decimated her after with various weapons. The each would main event WrestleMania 35 in 2019 along with Becky Lynch in the first-ever women’s WrestleMania main event. Lynch was victorious in that match and won both the Raw and Smackdown Women’s Championship. Lynch would go on to hold the belt for over a year before giving the Raw Women’s Championship up to have her baby.
WrestleMania Backlash will air live on Peacock on Sunday May 8. No other matches have officially been announced for the show.
