SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
WWE top star John Cena’s new Fox TV series will premiere just after WrestleMania on April 14.
“American Grit” is slotted for Thursday nights at 9:00 p.m. EST, which will run opposite the second hour WWE’s Smackdown show on USA Network.
Cena released on Twitter a 90-second preview trailer for the new reality competition show. Cena is the main star of the show, based on the trailer. Cena narrated and spoke throughout the trailer, making it clear he’s not just a background player hosting the show.
Fox is marketing the new series as part of their post-American Idol series finale programming this spring, reports Variety. “Grit” will be a 10-episode series rolling into the summer.
Cena took time off at the end of 2015 to film the show in the woods of Washington state. Cena then returned to WWE and subsequently injured his shoulder.
