[HOUR ONE]
-Michael Cole introduced the episode as an aerial view that showed Green Bay starting with Lambeau Field and then Resch Center. The camera panned to and through a line of excited fans outside the venue earlier.
-They showed arrivals and backstage footage of Gunther, Bayley, Stephanie Vaquer, and Jey Uso, as Cole hyped their scheduled matches and segments.
-Liv Morgan and Dominik Mysterio made their way to the ring together. The camera went to ringside to show Cole was alongside Corey Graves, as Pat McAfee was off again this week. They threw to clips of the exchanges between Liv Morgan and Nikki Bella, ending with Liv dropping Nikki with an Oblivion.
Liv welcomed fans to “Monday Night Morgan.” Fans booed. She introduced “the most gorgeous man in WWE.” Loud boos rang out. Dom spoke briefly. Liv then gloated about Nikki being at home this week. She said she paved he own way, so no credit goes to Nikki. Liv said she isn’t asking for respect anymore, but rather she’s demanding it. She told Iyo Sky they could do things the easy way or hard way. Iyo’s music played and she made her way to the ring with her WWE Women’s Title over her shoulder. Cole said Iyo is one of the current wrestlers who greeted Nikki as a “trailblazer.” Graves said he doesn’t understand how that ruffled feathers.
Fans chanted “Iyo!” She told Liv, “Do everyone a favor; shut your mouth!” Liv got wide-eyed. She said she disrespected Nikki and her. She said if she wants to fight her, “I’m right here.” Liv said she does want to fight her, but only when the championship is on the line. She said she could also just hand her the title. “I’d be totally cool with that,” Liv said. Iyo said if she wants it, she has to earn it. She said she can’t steal it like she stole Dirty Dom. Dom told Iyo to give Liv what she wants, “just like I do every single day.”
Liv made another pitch for Iyo to hand it over. Iyo held it out as fans chanted “Iyo!” She said Liv can have it. She threw it at her. Liv caught it. Iyo dropkicked the belt into her gut. Then she roundkicked Dom in the head from behind as he kneeled to check on Liv. Iyo’s music played and she headed to the back with Dom.
-They went to Graves and Cole at ringside. Graves said Liv made good points, but Iyo is going to make her fight for it. Cole noted that Jey Uso was added to the final slot in Fatal Four-way in the King tournament. They showed the King and Queen brackets.
-Stephanie Vaquer made her entrance. Graves and Cole called her one of the hottest stars on Raw. [c]
-Cole plugged SummerSlam tickets.
-Liv approached Raquel Rodriguez backstage and told her to go out there and win.
(1) STEPHANIE VAQUER vs. IVY NILE vs. ASUKA vs. RAQUEL RODRIGUEZ – Queen of the Ring tournament match
Asuka’s ring entrance took place last. The bell rang 21 minutes into the hour. They cut to a break at 2:00 with Asuka on a roll. [c]
Back from the break, Vaquer was on a flurry of offense. Vaquer leg whipped Asuka out of the corner. Vaquer gave Ivy Nile a Devil’s Kiss. She then gave the Devil’s Kiss to Raquel on the ring apron. Nile broke up an Asuka Lock on Vaquer seconds later. Nile scored a near fall on Asuka with a German suplex into a bridge. They cut to another break at 9:00 with Nile in control. [c]
Asuka leaped off the top rope and dropkicked Nile and Vaquer off of Raquel’s shoulders. Asuka then started throwing her roundkicks to the chest of Nile and Vaquer. A minute later, Vaquer grabbed Asuka’s hair and headbutted her over and over.
With Raquel on offense at 15:00, fans chanted, “This is awesome!” Rhea Ripley showed up at ringside and yanked her leg as she went for a cover on Vaquer after a Tejana Bomb. (She stuck her leg out awkwardly in order to be within Ripley’s reach.) Ripley gave Raquel a Rip Tide at ringside, then threw her into the ring. Asuka then landed her Empress Impact flying hip attack on Raquel for the win. Ripley waved and smiled from ringside at Raquel.
WINNER: Asuka in 16:00 to advance in the Queen of the Ring tournament to face Alexa Bliss.
-Cathy Kelley interviewed Asuka in the ring after her win. She noted it was her first win in over a year. Asuka smiled and proclaimed no one is ready for Asuka.
(Keller’s Analysis: lt’s fun to see Asuka back and getting a big win in her return match.)
-Cole hyped Stephanie McMahon’s latest podcast interview.
-A video packaged aired on Gunther regaining his World Heavyweight Title from Jey Uso.
-They showed a smiling Gunther swaggering backstage. [c]
-Cole hyped the SummerSlam press conference as they showed NBA players picking up replica belts matching their NBA teams.
-Backstage, Liv walked up to Raquel. Raquel said medical hasn’t cleared her to be at ringside for her. Dom told Finn Balor and J.D. McDonagh that he wanted McDonagh to face A.J. Styles because he’s been breathing down his neck. Balor said he’d have McDonagh’s back. Dom said he should stay in the back because he came up short against Styles. Balor thought about it, agreed, then told Dom to go to ringside instead. Balor chatted with Raquel and Roxanne Perez briefly backstage. He told Perez to follow him.
-Gunther made his ring entrance. When he entered the ring and held up his belt, pyro blasted. Gunther said he is man enough to admit that at WrestleMania, Jey Uso was the better man, but just on that night. He said every other night, he is untouchable. He said he has heard “all the chatter about what’s next for me.” Fans chanted, “Goldberg.” Gunther said, in response, “No, not that guy.” He said he took him out in front of his family and he learned his lesson. He said he has what Seth Rollins, the Money in the Bank winner, wants. He said since he’s a target, he is waiting for him the ring. Goldberg’s entrance music played. Goldberg, now 58 year old, walked out chomping gum and twitching. (He seemed to have a limp.)
Goldberg entered the ring and he assured Gunther, “It’s all good.” He said he was out there to celebrate him. He said a few months ago, Gunther started something with him and his family in Atlanta, Ga. He said he’ll be sure to end it in Atlanta on July 12 at Saturday Night’s Main Event. “You’re mine!” he yelled in his face. “Because you’re next!” Gunther looked a bit shaken up. Fans chanted, “Goldberg!” Cole said the rumors were true.
(Keller’s Analysis: How exactly are World Title matches handed out? You win the Royal Rumble or a tournament or you earn it through stacking up a series of impressive wins, right? So what’s the story on Goldberg getting a title shot?) [c]
[HOUR TWO]
-Cole plugged Cody’s podcast as they showed an aerial view of Lambeau Field. They replayed clips of Goldberg-Gunther and then Cole plugged tickets for SNME and Evolution that weekend.
(2) J.D. MCDONAGH (w/Dominik Mysterio) vs. A.J. STYLES
The bell rang 3 minutes into the second hour. Cole noted this is the first time these two have met one-on-one. Styles applied a Calf Crusher at 3:00. McDonagh reached the bottom rope after Dom pushed the rope a little more into McDonagh’s reach. Styles chased Dom around ringside and caught up to him. McDonagh then leaped over the ringside barricade and tackled Styles in the time keeper’s area. They cut to a break. [c]
A few minutes later, McDonagh set up a superplex off the top rope, but Styles countered with a headbutt and knocked McDonagh down. Dom distracted Styles after an awkward few seconds of Styles just hanging out on the top rope. McDonagh then went after Styles, but Styles quickly delivered a Styles Clash for the win.
WINNER: Styles in 11:00.
-Afterward, Dom went after Styles. Styles caught him with a Pelé kick. Balor came out to ringside to help Dom. Styles picked up the abandoned IC Title belt and held it up. Cole said Dom cannot run forever. Dom, Balor, and McDonagh went after Styles in the ring, but Styles slipped out of the ring and retreated to the stage with the belt.
-Backstage, Akira Tozaa, Maxinne Dupri, and Natalya walked up to Sheamus as he was warming up. Sheamus asked how Otis was going. Dupri said he’d be back soon. Tozawa told Sheamus, “Kick his ass!” in reference to Rusev in the Fatal Four-way later.
-They showed Bayley backstage. She walked past Austin Theory and Grayson Waller arguing with each other as New Day observed. [c]
-Cole plugged WrestleMania tickets next week back in Las Vegas.
-They showed Green Bay Packer Evan Williams at ringside.
-Bayley made her ring entrance as Cole recapped that Becky Lynch cost Bayley a tag team title shot at WrestleMania with an attack, sidelining Bayley for two months. Graves said Bayley was seething over that. Bayley said, “Ding Dong, Green Bay!” She said she missed the fans so much. She paused for fans to sing or chant. It took a while. She said, “Okay, we’ll get there.” Then a Bayley chant broke out. She said you don’t know what you have until it’s gone, and when she steps back into the ring, she knows what she has and doesn’t take it for granted. She said she revels in being in front of fans and said it’s what she was born to do. She said it’s what’s most important to her. She said two months ago, she was stripped of an opportunity and robbed of a WrestleMania match for the Women’s Tag Team Titles.
She said Becky’s actions didn’t break her. She said it made her stronger. She said she might’ve said in the past how much it bothers her that Becky has always been two rungs ahead of her. She said it ate at her. She said she climbed the ladder and is coming straight for her. She told her to get her ass to the ring. Becky’s music instantly played and Becky came out in a Chicago Bears jacket and t-shirt. Graves called it a “troll job.” (Not to the large population in Chicago, for whom she just turned babyface. Plus, the Minnesota Vikings are the top rival of the Packers because they actually have frequent winning records, unlike the Bears.)
Becky entered the ring as her music faded. Fans chanted, “Bears still suck!” (Can’t disagree with that.) Becky said, “They beat you last time.” Becky said they both weren’t supposed to make it. Becky said Bayley accepts being second fiddle, and she doesn’t. Becky said she’s always preferred to build a legacy than have fake-ass friends. Bayley said she’s so confident in her legacy, she doesn’t mind giving a boost to people who could use it. Becky said she stopped fighting for the people because they stopped fighting for her. Becky said when she took out Bayley before WrestleMania, “nobody gave a damn about you.”
Bayley said Becky is so insecure and she cares about what the fans think. She said she targeted her after a year away because she couldn’t risk the fans not caring about her. Becky said they cheered her attacking Bayley. Bayley asked if Becky remembers what it’s like to fight for opportunities “or is your head so far up your ass”? Becky said she doesn’t remember, then asked Bayley if she knows what gold feels like. Bayley asked her to remind her. Becky said she’s sneaky and she won’t turn her back to her. Becky said she can have a match, “but not in Green Bay and not for my title.” Becky slapped Bayley, but Bayley hit her in return. Becky retreated.
Cole said Bayley made a lot of sense and Becky seems delusional.
-Kelley interviewed Jey about his setback last week losing to Gunther. She asked about the King of the Ring match. Jey said he earned Gunther’s respect, and Gunther got his respect after last week. He said they’re basically 1-1 and now he wants to win the tournament and earn another shot.
(Keller’s Analysis: Jey lost to Gunther before he beat him, so 1-1 isn’t quite the full picture. Also, Jey should have a rematch scheduled without needing to win a tournament since he is the most recent champ.)
-Kairi Sane made her entrance. [c]
-Cole got in some plugs.
-Nick Aldis was shown looking at his phone. Styles walked up to him and gave him back the IC Title belt. Aldis thanked him for returning it in a timely basis. He said he’d give it back to Dom. He said he’ll make sure Dom gets his belt back at Night of Champions. A happy Styles left. Bayley walked up to Aldis and said he has added a twist to her match against Becky. Aldis said he thinks she is owed a title match, so the IC Title will be on the line. Lyra Valkyria called Bayley over. She said, “Welcome back, and congratulations, I guess.” Bayley apologized for not returning her text messages. She said her two months away were rough. Lyra said it’s clear Bayley is doing what’s best for her, so she’ll do what’s best for her.
(3) LIV MORGAN vs. KAIRI SANE
The bell rang 40 minutes into the hour. Kairi slammed Liv chest-first to the mat and Liv cried out in pain and grabbed her shoulder. She shook her head no to the ref. The ringside doctor checked on her off camera. They replayed the landing. Graves speculated it was a dislocated shoulder.
WINNER: Kairi via forfeit in a few seconds. [c]
-They went to Cole and Graves at ringside. Graves said the landing was standard procedure and it was a bit of a fluke arm injury. They showed her being helped to the back with her arm being lifted by the medics.
-A video package aired on the John Cena-C.M. Punk feud over the years including their recent verbal exchanges.
-They went back to Cole and Graves. Cole said Liv has been diagnosed with a dislocated shoulder.
-Kelley interviewed Sami Zayn backstage about being in the King of the Ring semi-finals. He said something about this time feels different. Karrion Kross walked in said there is nothing different this time. He said Sami is insane because he is doing the same thing but expect a different result. He said he’s going to lose to Randy Orton, who will then go on to become a 15-time champion “and you are going to stay at zero.” Sami said Kross is a coward who hides back there and lurks in the shadows and talks in riddles. He said maybe he doesn’t have the courage to risk falling on his face. Sami said he has lost, but has had the courage to pick himself up and go back out there again. He said the second the King tournament is done, he’s going to Adam Pearce to demand a match once and for all against Kross. Kross leaned in and said, “It’s about time.” He smiled and left.
-Jey Uso made his entrance. [c]
[HOUR THREE]
-Cole got in more plugs including Becky vs. Bayley for the IC Title next week on Raw, Jade Cargill vs. Roxanne Perez and Cody Rhodes vs. whoever wins tonight’s main event. He also noted it’s the 19th time Raw took place in Green Bay.
(4) JEY USO vs. RUSEV vs. BRONSON REED (w/Paul Heyman) vs. SHEAMUS – King of the Ring tournament match
Rusev’s ring entrance took place. Then Sheamus. And finally Bronson Reed. They showed Reed costing L.A. Knight his match. The bell rang 4 minutes into the hour. [c]
Graves talked about Sheamus getting leaner during his last time away from action. Sheamus and Rusev eventually paired off and battled, taking each other out. Jey and Reed battled next. Reed caught Jey mid-air and powerslammed him. Reed flexed and they cut to another break. [c]
Cole said Sheamus just threw Rusev over their announce desk and into Graves’s lap. Sheamus gave Reed a White Noise for a near fall. Rusev recovered and threw Sheamus onto Reed. Jey then rallied. He went for a superkick on Rusev, but Rusev caught his boot and then applied the Accolade mid-ring. Jey crawled to the ropes to force a break. Sheamus then attack Rusev and Reed. Sheamus covered Rusev, but Reed broke up his cover with a senton. Reed then landed a Tsunami on Sheamus. Jey broke up the cover “just barely,” as Cole described it.
Jey then ducked Reed and speared Reed. He climbed to the top rope, but Bron Breakker shoved Jey off the top rope. Cole noted the ref can’t do anything because it’s no DQ. Sami attacked Breakker at ringside and reverse-whipped him into the ringpost. Breaker came back and tossed Sami over the announce desk at Graves, who moved. Penta showed up in the ring and landed a running flip dive onto Breakker.
Reed then gave Jey a Death Valley Driver. When he climbed to the top rope, Knight shoved him down. Jey then speared him. He followed up with a top rope splash splash onto Reed’s back. He went back to the top rope and landed another splash on Reed for the win.
WINNER: Jey 17:00 to advance to face Cody Rhodes.
(Keller’s Analysis: The interference was predictable since that’s the pattern lately with WWE TV match finishes, and also the foreshadowing with the clip of Reed costing Knight his match.)
-Jey favored his knee afterward. Seth Rollins came out to his music. Cole said Jey was a sitting duck. Cody Rhodes came out to his music to make the save before Seth could do anything. Cody stared down Seth as fans sang Cody’s song briefly after the music stopped. Fans chanted “Holy shit!” Seth left. Fans booed. Heyman smiled and gathered his crew as fans sang “Cody Cody Rhodes!” Jey stood. Cody turned to him and they teased their match on Raw next week. Cole said they will have to put friendship aside to battle for the chance to advance to the tournament final to become King of the Ring. They shook hands as the show ended.
