SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Wheeler Yuta lost to Jon Moxley on last Friday’s episode of AEW Rampage, but leveled up as an act in AEW in the process.
In an interview on the AEW Unrestricted Podcast, Yuta talked about the goals he has in AEW and what the exact moment was that he felt a fire lit under him to perform.
“Impress William Regal,” Yuta said regarding his goals in AEW. “My most immediate goal for right now is to impress the three of those guys – Moxley, Danielson and Regal.” Yuta continued and said that it was Regal’s slap to the face that lit a fire under him. “It fired me up and that was a real reaction,” Yuta said regarding Regal slapping him in the face on television. “It’s an unreal experience. It lit a fire under me, and I gotta go prove myself now.”
Wheeler Yuta lost to Moxley in a bloody and violent battle. Yuta kicked out of two Paradigm Shifts during the match and held off on tapping out while in multiple submissions. In the end, Yuta passed out in a sleeper hold to lose the match. After, Bryan Danielson and Regal walked to the ring. The two men circled Yuta with Moxley, but then shook his hand as the crowd cheered. Yuta wrote “BCC” in blood on his chest for Blackpool Combat Club and officially joined the group after weeks of courting them.
On Friday’s special live episode of AEW Rampage, the full Blackpool Combat Club will compete together for the first time against The Gunn Club.
