SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Samoa Joe had choice and definitive words in regards to what his goals are for his upcoming run in ROH and AEW.
During the media scrum alongside Tony Khan after ROH Supercard of Honor, Joe definitively stated that his goal was to win championships and “take things from people” during his upcoming run in AEW and Ring of Honor.
“World champion,” Joe said when asked about what role he was looking to show. “I mean, that’s why I’m here. I’ve tried my bid at bettering the world of professional wrestling. At the end of they day, I’m here in AEW and ROH to be the unified champion. I’m here to win the AEW Championship. I’m here to win the ROH Championship. I’m here to win anything they put in front of me. Me and Tony already talked and I’m more than willing to go into the Owen Hart (tournament) and win that. This isn’t a game anymore, listen, AEW’s had a lot of feel good moments and there’s a lot of great wrestlers who really respect each other. I respect nobody until you’re in the ring with me. I’m coming out there, smacking people in the mouth and taking what they have. That’s pretty much my edict when I’m here. Let’s get it clear, broadcaster, mentor, good guy, I am all those things, but not here.”
Samoa Joe made his wrestling return Friday night at ROH Supercard of Honor. He appeared after the main event and confronted Jay Lethal after Jonathan Gresham won the ROH World Championship.
Joe is a former NXT Champion, but was released from WWE in January of this year. He was inducted into the Ring of Honor Hall of Fame earlier this year.
