Note: Longtime ROH ring announcer Bobby Cruise was brought in to do the ring announcing.
PRE-SHOW
(a) COLT CABANA vs. BLAKE CHRISTIAN
Cabana did some comedy and the match got good. Cabana eventually won with the Chicago Skyline.
WINNER: Colt Cabana.
(b) AQA vs. MIRANDA ALIZE
AQA won with a SSP.
WINNER: AQA.
(c) THE GATES OF AGONY (KAUN & TAO LIONA W/TULLY BLANCHARD) vs. SHINOBI SHADOW SQUAD (ELI ISOM & CHEESEBURGER)
Blanchard’s new team won a squash.
WINNERS: Kaun & Tia Liona
(d) DALTON CASTLE vs. JOE HENDRY
Castle won a solid match with the Bang-A-Rang.
WINNER: DALTON CASTLE
MAIN CARD
(1) SHANE STRICKLAND vs. ALEX ZAYNE
Strickland won with the JML driver after working over Zayne’s leg throughout the match.
WINNER: Shane Strickland. (***3/4)
Brian Cage is Tully Blanchard’s new client. He was out to face Ninja Mack.
(2) NINJA MACK vs. BRIAN CAGE (W/TULLY BLANCHARD)
Cage won a short squash.
WINNER: Brian Cage. (N/A)
(3) LEE MORIATRY (W/MATT SYDAL) vs. JAY LETHAL
Gary Juster and Sonjay Dutt were shown on the crowd.
Lethal won with a low blow and Lethal Injection after they traded pinning combinations. Lethal attacked Sydal after the match and Sonjay Dutt ran into the ring to get him to stop. Match was slow to start but finished strong.
Is Gary Juster behind something? We may never know since only Dutt came down to the ring after being shown in the crowd before the match.
WINNER: Jay Lethal. (***1/4)
(4) WILLOW vs. MERCEDES MARATINEZ – Intermim ROH Women’s Championship match
This was good. Martinez won via submission. It started slow, but picked up late and Willow crushed her with a moonsault late for a good nearfall.
WINNER: Mercedes Martinez to become the Interim ROH Womens’ World Champion. (***1/2)
(5) BRISCOES vs. FTR (DAX HARWOOD & CASH WHEELER) – ROH World Tag Team Championship match
The fans exploded with chants for both teams after the opening bell rang. They moved on to a tag team wrestling chant a short time later. Hardwood spit in jay’s face and backed away. FTR catapulted Jay into the underside of the timekeepers table. Jay came up bleeding. Briscoes hit Redneck Boogie and FTR hit a powerbomb splash combination for a pair of near falls on FTR. Briscoes hit the Big Rig on Hardwood for a nearfall. The fans went crazy again. Jay suplexed Harwood over the top to the floor and the doctors checked on Harwood. FTR countered the Doomessay Device and hit the Big Rig on Mark for the win.
WINNERS: Dax Harwood & Cash Wheeler to become the new ROH World Tag Team Champions. (*****)
Both teams hugged after the match. Wait an amazing moment.
Announcers asked if this was the Briscoes last ROH match. The Young Bucks ran down as the fans were chanting Thank you Briscoes. They set up for the Meltzer Driver on Mark, but FTR made the save. Harwood challenged YB to a match. Matt said that would be perfect for Wednesday night. He said they said they quit ROH, made a new company, and bought ROH. They told the fans to tune into TBS on Wednesday.
(6) RHETT TITUS vs. MINORU SUZUKI – ROH World TV Championship match
Suzuki won a short match with the Gotch Style piledriver.
WINNER: Minoru Suzuki to become the new ROH World TV Champion. (**1/2)
(7) JOSH WOODS vs. WHEELER YUTA – ROH Pure Championship match
Colt Cabana, Christopher Daniels, and B.J. Whitmer are ringside as judges. Woods got a leg submission early and Yuta used his first rope break. Woods forced Yuta to use all his rope breaks. Yuta ended up winning the match with a pinning combination out of nowhere. Another AEW guy had taken an ROH title.
WINNER: Wheeler Yuta to become the new ROH Pure Champion.
Tony Khan announced on Twitter that Wheeler Yuta was All Elite and had signed a full time deal with the company after the match.
(7) BANDIDO (W/CHAVO GUERRERO) vs. JONATHAN GRESHAM – ROH Undisputed Championship match
Bandido held up Gresham at one point for a minute long delayed vertical suplex. The fans counted to 60 along with Bandido and then applauded afterwards. Gresham got the octopus later in the match, but Gresham blocked his path to the ropes. Gresham hit several blows to Bandido’s head and Bandido sent them both crashing into the ropes. Gresham went for a dive and Chavo pushed Bandido out of the way. Bandido hit the ref and Chavo hit Gresham with the belt. Bandido had the ref kick Chavo out. The pace really picked up after Gresham countered the 21 plex and landed on his feet. Gresham then kicked out of the 21 Plex a short time later! Wow! Gresham eventually caught Bandido with a nice pinning combination and it was good for the win. Hell of a finish to the match after a slow start.
WINNER: Jonathan Gresham to become the new Undisputed ROH World Champion. (***3/4)
After the match, Bandido shook hands with Gresham and gave him his title. Gresham got on the mic and said he wanted to make ROH Pure. Lethal came out and said he supported the people going home on a high note. Lethal challenge Gresham to a match for the title. Gresham said Lethal’s current actions show him he’s changed. Lethal said nobody would know who he was it if it wasn’t for him. Dutt ran down to the ring to break them apart. He then punched helped Lethal put the boots to Gresham. Moriarty ran down to help, but he got beat down as well. The fans changed asshole, asshole at Lethal.
Samoa Joe’s music played and he came out to an incredible pop. Joe was Lethal’s mentor in ROH. Joe went face-to-face with Lethal. Joe grabbed Dutt and looked at Lethal. Dutt finally got dragged to the floor and the fans chanted Joe, Joe, Joe.
The fans chanted Joe’s gonna kill you. Joe brought Gresham in the ring. Tony Khan told Ian that Joe will be on Dynamite. Moriarty also joined Joe in the ring. Joe grabbed a mic and they cut the feed.
Overall score (8.0): This was definitely a newsworthy show worth checking out. The Briscoes vs. FTR match was amazing. Samoa Joe’s debut was tremendous as well.
