SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Tony Khan’s acquisition of ROH will close around the first week of April. SEScoops is reporting that early April is the timetable that both entities are working under, but things could move quicker.

The report also indicates that Tony Khan will likely phase out current Ring of Honor staff and that Ring of Honor has encouraged staff to explore other opportunities including jumping to other roles within Sinclair Broadcasting. Severance packages are reportedly being considered, but nothing official has been revealed yet.

ROH’s streaming service, HonorClub, is also said to be in flux at this point. It has yet to be determined whether or not Khan will onboard that product as part of the sale. Current HonorClub subscribers will be notified of any changes once final decisions have been made.

Khan announced the purchase of ROH on last week’s episode of AEW Dynamite. The company has been on a self-imposed hiatus since the start of 2022. Their final event was Final Battle in December of 2021. Prior to the Khan news, ROH announced their return with a Supercard of Honor PPV over WrestleMania weekend in Dallas, Texas. The announced main event for that show is Bandido vs. Jonathan Gresham for the Undisputed ROH World Championship. Both men were scheduled to wrestle at Final Battle, but Bandido was pulled from the event due to a positive COVID-19 test. Instead, Gresham faced Jay Lethal and won the ROH World Championship. In addition to the world title match, The Briscoes are scheduled to defend the ROH Tag Team Championship at Supercard. Their opponents have not been announced at this time.
