SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
STARDOM GODDESSES OF STARDOM
OCTOBER 19, 2019
OSAKA, JAPAN AT OSAKA WORLD PAVILION
AIRED ON STARDOM WORLD
REPORT BY HARLEY R. PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR
The show opened with Stars performing a song called “The World Is For You And Us!” from the new Stardom album. Arisa Hoshiki, Tam Nakano, and Starlight Kid handled the vocals with Saya Iida accompanying them as they walked around ringside and into the crowd with microphones.
-Onozaki said she couldn’t be in the tag league so she’d make up for it by winning here. Miyagi said nothing. Kashima said she’s surprisingly good at three-ways. She’ll do what it takes but she wouldn’t use weapons because she’s no heel.
(1) ARTIST OF STARDOM CHAMPION ANDRAS MIYAGI vs. SAKI KASHIMA vs. LEO ONOZAKI
Kashima over Onozaki with a top rope double-stomp.
WINNER: Saki Kashima in 3:38.
-Kimura had her own KISS makeup like Death. QQ said they’d do their best.
(2) TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Hana Kimura & Death Yama-San) vs. QUEEN’S QUEST (Momo Watanabe & AZM)
Tilt-a-whirl ambar from AZM to Death but Death rolled through for the pin.
WINNERS: Tokyo Cyber Squad in 5:48.
(Pageot’s Perspective: Kimura seems to be taking her red belt loss well.)
-Sumire was still fixing her makeup while Kagetsu welcomed Martina back to Japan. Iwatani said this Stars combination was a little usual and they’d be enemies in the tag league but here they were friends.
(3) STARS (Wonder Of Stardom Champion Arisa Hoshiki, Mayu Iwatani, & Tam Nakano) vs. OEDO TAI (Session Moth Martina & Artist Of Stardom Champions Kagetsu & Natsu Sumire)
Sumire took a series of kicks from all three Stars members and a moonsault from Iwatani for the pin.
WINNERS: Stars in 10:07.
-Lucas was stress-eating a hamburger while Tyler was upset about losing their first tag league match. Iida said this was their first tag league match. They did their SayaSaya hand gesture.
(4) 3838 TAG (Saya Iida & Saya Kamitani) vs. TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Bobbi Tyler & Zoe Lucas) – BLUE GODDESSES BLOCK
Lucas Landslide to Kamitani for the win.
WINNERS: Tokyo Cyber Squad in 6:45.
(Pageot’s Perspective: I love three of these women and Tyler’s okay so no complaints from me. If the Sayas win one match in the tag league I’ll be impressed.)
-Oedo Tai said to enjoy it. Kid asked if they were an idol tag team. She said she wanted to win the league, then challenge for Riho’s title. Riho carried her AEW title and was introduced as such.
(5) HIGH SPEED CHAMPION & AEW WOMEN’S CHAMPION RIHO & STARLIGHT KID vs. OEDO TAI (Hazuki & Natsuko Tora) – RED GODDESSES BLOCK
Riho with double knees to Tora in the corner.
WINNERS: Riho & Kid in 7:45.
(Pageot’s Perspective: So long as Riho holds the AEW title I can’t see her taking any losses in Stardom. Good thing she has Kid on her team to at least keep these matches a bit up in the air in terms of those results.)
-The Brits boasted about crossing faction lines to team together. Hayter asked why Priestley chose her to be her partner. Priestley said she just likes Hayter and if the rest of Queen’s Quest don’t like it they can fuck off. Then Kyona was back! She said she got hurt here a month ago and they can’t afford to lose. She knew people would be aiming for her injured shoulder but they can overcome anything. They clinked their tag titles together.
(6) GODDESS OF STARDOM CHAMPIONS TOKYO CYBER SQUAD (Jungle Kyona & Konami) vs. TOP GAIJINS (World Of Stardom Champion Bea Priestley & Jamie Hayter) – RED GODDESSES BLOCK
Kyona with a slingshot splash over the top rope onto the gaijins. She put Hayter in a Boston crab and gave her a taste of her own medicine with a wet willy. TCS looked to isolate Hayter but she tagged in Priestley, who took control. Doomsday Device-esque missile dropkick/powerbomb to Hayter at 8:30 but Priestley broke up the pin. Falcon arrow to Kyona but Konami made the save. Falcon arrow backbreaker from Hayter to Kyona.
WINNERS: Top Gaijins in 9:51.
(Pageot’s Perspective: Boo hiss. I can’t disagree with the story of the injured Kyona possibly coming back too soon and suffering for it but I will still be upset any time she loses. Hayter & Priestley have just earned themselves a tag title shot regardless of how the rest of the tournament unfolds.)
-Hayter again put over the QQ/Oedo Tai alliance. Kagetsu appeared, dragging AZM to the ring. The rest of their factions came out and stood in separate corners. Hayter & Priestley told everyone to bow down to the gaijins.
(Pageot’s Perspective: This has to lead to both of the Brits being exiled from their factions, right? They committed a major faux pas by teaming together and the more they continue to rub it in everyone’s face the bigger the offense it becomes. Now they’re insulting every Japanese person on the roster by talking up how great the gaijins are. Could this lead to Watanabe kicking Priestley out of QQ and taking the red belt from her? That would be a massive babyface moment.)
