SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Impact Wrestling announced today via press release to PWTorch.com and other media outlets that their weekly two hour show will be moving from Pursuit, with very limited reach on national cable systems, to AXS TV, which is available in over 50 million homes and is also home to other wrestling shows including New Japan and WOW. It will continue to stream live on Twitch, also.
They have not announced a night the show will air on, but all eyes are on Tuesday, Smackdown’s current timeslot which it vacates at the start of October when it moves to Fridays on Fox. Thursday is another possibility, although that would put it up against NFL and NBA games much of the year. It could also end up in a later timeslot immediately following Raw, Smackdown, or AEW and NXT. Impact moving to a stronger network creates five weeknight shows starting in October that will be first-run two or three hour programs. It’s easily the most original nationally distributed weeknight pro wrestling content in the industry’s history.
The show won’t premiere until after Impact’s Bound for Glory PPV event, which takes place Oct. 20. It seems like a missed opportunity not to debut on Tuesday, Oct. 1, the first Tuesday without Smackdown.
Impact touts its top stars as Brian Cage, Rob Van Dam Rhino, Moose, Eddie Edwards, Sami Callahan, Rich Swann, Michael Elgin, Gail Kim, Tessa Blanchard, Taya Valkyrie, Tenille Dashwood, Rosemary, Madison Rayne, and Su Yung,
