ROH TV REPORT
JUNE 2, 2019
CHICAGO, IL AT THE ODEUM
AIRED ON SINCLAIR AFFILIATES & ROHWRESTLING.COM
REPORT BY HARLEY R. PAGEOT, PWTORCH CONTRIBUTOR

Commentary: Ian Riccaboni, Colt Cabana

Opening theme.

-The Allure (Angelina Love, Velvet Sky, & Mandy Leon) made their entrance wearing sparkly bondage gear. Sky took credit for she and Love starting the women’s revolution in wrestling before Women Of Honor or WWE. She labeled them the most credible women to ever step foot in ROH. Love put over her résumé as a six-time women’s champion. She said they know to how make an impact. (Get it?) That’s why they chose to debut in Madison Square Garden. Leon addressed the Twitter trolls in their mom’s basements but she was interrupted by “boring” chants. Leon said she’s the foundation of WOH.

Jenny Rose made her entrance and stood in the aisle. WOH World Champion Kelly Klein was next. They took down Love and Leon and had catfights until security separated them. Sky sprayed Rose in the eye with hairspray. The Allure bailed. Klein said it was time for them to back up their words. She admitted she and Rose haven’t been on the same page in the past but they agree that they don’t want those (expletives) in here. She challenged them to a tag match any time. [C]

(Pageot’s Perspective: Can you believe it’s only been two months since The Allure debuted? It feels like two years. There are rumors that Sumie Sakai is injured and her absence here would seem to confirm that. It also appears that Velvet Sky is indeed retired as she has yet to get involved physically at any point. I’d have to imagine this will lead to a tag match at Best In The World with The Allure finally wrestling for the first time and Love pinning Rose to set her up for a future title match against Klein.)

(1) THE BOUNCERS (Beer City Bruiser & Brawler Milonas) vs. THE KINGDOM (TK O’Ryan & Vinny Marseglia) vs. COAST 2 COAST (LSG & Shaheem Ali) vs. NJPW YOUNG LIONS (Clark Connors & Alex Coughlin)

Milonas and LSG started. C2C had on their mean faces to put over their new heel alignment. Milonas shoved LSG through the air and Marseglia tagged himself in. Bruiser with right hands to Marseglia. He took out Coughlin and Ali with a cannonball off the apron. The Kingdom isolated Connors in the ring. [C]

C2C took over from The Kingdom by working over Connors. Hot tag to Coughlin. He unloaded on LSG with chops. Dropkick to Ali. Bruiser tagged himself in. The Bouncers double-teamed C2C. O’Ryan tagged LSG. Sidewalk slam from Milonas. Double-team from C2C to Bruiser. The young lions tagged in and took down C2C. House Of A Thousand Horses from The Kingdom to Connors. Ali tagged in and tried to steal the pin but Bruiser prevented it. Closing Time to one of the young lions.

WINNERS: The Bouncers in 9:00.

(Pageot’s Perspective: The Bouncers are now 9-2 this year, a strong record that makes their loss to L.I.J. at War Of The Worlds: Grand Rapids all the more puzzling. They officially earned a tag title match in a gauntlet at State Of The Art on June 2 but we were informed they won’t receive that match until sometime after Briscoes-G.O.D. II on July 20.)

-New interviewer Quinn McKay was backstage with Lifeblood’s Tracy Williams and Mark Haskins. She asked about the tension between them and Bully Ray. Haskins said they’re fed up. Williams admitted Lifeblood’s numbers are low with Juice Robinson and Bandido in Japan, David Finlay injured, and Tenille Dashwood quitting ROH. PJ Black walked up. He said they like what they’re doing and offered to watch their back. They didn’t respond, simply walking off without him. [C]

-Video recap of Colt Cabana pinning Willie Mack to win the NWA National Championship at Crockett Cup and James Storm confronting him after the match.

-Video recap of last week’s TV including Silas Young’s exhibition and Kenny King beating Jay Lethal with a Lethal Injection in the first match of their best of three series.

-Riccaboni announced Klein & Rose vs. The Allure will take place in two weeks on TV.

-Video package on Jeff Cobb. He spoke about his family, background in amateur wrestling, and competing in the Olympics.

(2) JOSH “THE GOODS” WOODS vs. MAVERICK BOOM

Kick to the gut. Seismic Toss.

WINNER: Josh Woods in 0:51. [C]

(3) LOS INGOBERNABLES DE JAPÓN (Evil & Sanada) vs. “BLUE JUSTICE” YUJI NAGATA & SATOSHI KOJIMA

Sanada and Nagata started. “Both these guys” chant from the crowd. Paradise lock to Kojima. Sanada dropkicked him free. [C]

Nagata and Sanada traded forearms. Nagata fought off the paradise lock. Nagata Lock to Sanada. Kojima kept Evil occupied at ringside. Evil fought free and broke it up. Chops from Kojima to both opponents. Top rope elbow drop to Evil. Evil raked the eyes. Koji Cutter to Evil. Brainbuster. Magic Killer to Kojima and Evil covered.

WINNERS: L.I.J. in 12:46.

(Pageot’s Perspective: A good match but there was zero context given for why we were getting four New Japan wrestlers in the main event or what it means that L.I.J. have picked up another win in ROH. Will they get a tag title match against G.O.D.? Next week sees Cabana defend the NWA national title against James Storm so it seems like ROH has decided their best approach to producing quality ROH television is to not have any ROH wrestlers in the main event.)

-Dalton Castle made his entrance in street clothes. He said he’d had time to think and reflect. He said he lost at Supercard Of Honor (he meant G1 Supercard) but it was a spectacular 16-second loss against a dirty, filthy, cheater in Rush. Cheaters need to be punished so he was challenging Rush’s brother Dragon Lee to a match at Best In The World. Castle said Rush would pay with his family and Castle would break every bone in Lee’s body.

Suddenly The Boys appeared on the apron. Castle tried for a cheap shot but they attacked him and clotheslined him out of the ring. Brent threw Brandon over the top rope onto Castle but Castle came back and beat them both up again. He lay Brent across the timekeeper’s table and powerslammed Brandon onto him. The table tipped over but didn’t break.

(Pageot’s Perspective: ROH booking in 2019 is getting one idea and then repeating it over and over and over for three months.)

-Next week: it’s Colt Cabana vs. James Storm for the NWA national title and Lifeblood vs. Shane Taylor & Bully Ray.
