Another big match that was teased at Wrestling Dontaku: Night 2 will take place on May 22, as Will Ospreay will take on El Phantasmo. The tour runs from May 13 to June 5 and unless Dragon Lee wins the tournament, it’s likely Lee will face the winner of the tournament on June 9 at Dominion. Brody King, will make his Japan debut for NJPW wrestling in the undercard matches on the tour. King was part of the New Beginning in USA tour earlier this year.
-NJPW is loading up the Best of the Super Juniors finals event on June 5. In addition to a winner of the tournament being crowned. Jay White vs. Hiroshi Tanahashi has been added to the card. Tanahashi made his surprise return to NJPW at Wrestling Dontaku: Night 2, but he was ambushed in an attack from White and Gedo that saw them target his injured arm. Tanahashi had surgery on his left elbow after injuring it in his match against Zack Sabre Jr. at G1 Supercard on April 6.
-Several matches for Dominion on June 9 have been announced in the aftermath of the Wrestling Dontaku tour. The main event will see IWGP Hvt. Champion Kazuchika Okada vs. Chris Jericho. Jericho challenged Okada to a match after he beat SANADA at Wrestling Dontaku: Night 2.
The other big match on the show will see Kota Ibushi defend the IWGP IC Championship against Tetsuya Naito in a rematch from G1 Supercard when Ibushi beat Naito for the title. Naito teased throughout most of the Wrestling Dontaku that he was going to challenge Ibushi for the title, but wouldn’t say when until the final night of the tour when he challenged Ibushi to a match at Dominion, which is NJPW’s second biggest show of the year behind Wrestle Kingdom.
Also announced for Dominion is Taichi defending the NEVER Openweight Championship against Tomohiro Ishii. Taichi beat Jeff Cobb for the title at Wrestling Dontaku: Night 1. Ishii is coming off a win over EVIL at Wrestling Dontauku: Night 2.
