SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

In an emotional speech at the WWE Monday Night Raw TV event in Atlanta, Ga. tonight,  broadcast live on USA Network, Roman Reigns announced he is in remission from leukemia.

He did not give a timeline on his return to the ring, but he indicated he intend to wrestle again. “There is no other job like this and no other fanbase like you guys,” he said.

After detailing the support he received after this Oct. 22 announcement that he was taking a leave to battle a return of leukemia, he said all the support gave him strength, new life, a new opportunity, and a new purpose. He said the only thing that is important that he can do is the ability to step foot inside the ring every night, “and if I can do that, I’m going to use that platform to raise awareness and support those who are need just like I was.”

Reigns was promoted as WWE’s top star in recent years and two months before revealing he had leukemia, he had defeated Brock Lesnar at Summerslam to capture the Universal Championship. Although he was often booed by a large percentage of WWE fans at live events, usually predominantly the adult males, he was cheered loudly throughout the 20 minute segment where he thanked fans.
