UFC Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier calls out Brock Lesnar after UFC 230, says he “feels like being a WWE champion too,” Rogan wonders if UFC is becoming too much like WWE

Daniel Cormier, after successfully defending his UFC Heavyweight Title against Derrick Lewis at UFC 230 in New York City, N.Y. at Madison Square Garden, called out his likely next UFC challenger – Brock Lesnar.

“Brock Lesnar, when you come, bring that brand new WWE Title, too,” he said. “I feel like being a WWE champion too. Bring that belt with you if you come to my house.”

Lesnar captured the Universal Title on Friday in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia at the “Crown Jewel” WWE event, defeating Braun Strowman after Raw acting G.M. Baron Corbin hit Strowman from behind with the title belt before the match began, giving Lesnar a big advantage as he dished out a series of F5s before scoring the three count.

The announcers discussed the Cormier-Lesnar fight after Cormier’s victory.

“This is interesting in terms of the fans,” said Joe Rogan. “We don’t know nothing about Brock anymore. We haven’t seen him in forever. He’s almost 40 years old. He’s been doing WWF/WWE stuff for a long time. Only he knows how much he’s been training, actually training, striking, real conditioning. I’ve seen images of him. He’s certainly leaning up. He looks lighter. That’s probably something he’s ramping up for. We’re looking at sometime in 2018 him fighting for the title.”

“Of course I want to see that fight.,” said Paul Felder. “I want to see DC make as much money as possible. For fans around the world, it’s certainly intriguing. But as far as competition and challenges for Daniel Cormier,  I think there’s a lot of other options out there that MMA-wise are much more challenging. I think he will destroy Brock Lesnar.”

Rogan: “Is there a danger in too many of these kind of novelty fights, almost like Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor. ‘Let’s see, let’s see!’ I mean, is there a danger in that where people start conflating this with pro wrestling.”

Anik: “That’s certain something we hope that doesn’t happen, right, that there would be any sort of correlation there.”

Felder: “I still honestly think we’re a far cry from that if every now and then there’s a big super fight or something like that, I don’t think it’s every going to be comparable.”

Rogan went on to say the real money is in Brock Lesnar and he wants to see Cormier make as much money as he can, but he feels bad for former champion Stipe Miocic who defended the title four times and is the greatest of all-time and he’s sitting around outside of the conversation because Lesnar is stepping in to get the title fight.
