SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
HITS
Coast To Coast (LSG & Shaheem Ali) vs. The Briscoes (Jay & Mark Briscoe): As the show was kicking off, Ian Riccaboni threw it to the ring for what we thought would be Chris Cabin vs. Marty Scurll, but, Coast To Coast (CTC) comes out with the microphone in their hands and they are ready to get it on right now against The Briscoes. CTC tells The Briscoes to come out right now to get their asses kicked. CTC came through with another solid showing. The Briscoes controlled the ring and controlled CTC for most of the match which was a slow and methodical old school match. There’s nothing wrong with that in my eyes. I enjoyed it. Towards the end, CTC hit their finisher, but they did not get a three count. With CTC setting up another high-risk maneuver off the top rope, The Briscoes end up hitting the Doomsday Device and the Briscoes get the win by pin. Credit CTC for hanging with The Briscoes in a long match by TV standards. CTC definitely belongs in the top end of the tag division. When you can hang with the ROH World Tag champs like they did here, I think that is a big positive not only for the match and tag division but also for ROH as a whole.
Jay Lethal Promo: Lethal tells Taven that he has a major problem after putting his hands on him. Lethal then closes it and says that’s ok since although he did not create the problem he sure will solve it. This was another one of ROH’s quick promos that they sprinkle in. Nothing special but solid and effective.
Matt Taven w/Vinny Marseglia & TK O’Ryan Promo: I loved the arrogance here from Taven. This was as quick as a promo can be. Taven is standing there with his purple ROH World title. Taven says “it’s nothing personal Jay, I’m Matt Taven and the real ROH world champion”. Taven is perfect for what they are doing and he is also a legitimate contender to the ROH World title. I am really looking forward to seeing this story with he and Lethal.
The Briscoes Promo Backstage After Defeating CTC: The Briscoes did what they did best backstage after defeating CTC and that’s talk trash and tell their opponents and the rest of the ROH locker room why they are the best tag team in the world. At this point, it is not just talk. They are the best and they continue to prove it via their matches and their promos.
Recap of Jeff Cobb and Punishment Martinez: Quick recap of the recent happenings with Jeff Cobb and Punishment Martinez and what has led up to the ROH World TV title match that aired this week. A little short on the recap but still effective enough showing how we got to where we are with Cobb and Martinez.

Tenille Dashwood Addresses The Fans: Dashwood delivers a difficult message and tells the fans that she not only has a shoulder injury but also an autoimmune disease and a skin condition. Dashwood went on to say she is going to be sidelined for a while and unfortunately that means she cannot do anything about getting back whoever her attacker was at Death Before Dishonor after her match. However, she does promise that once she comes back she will find out who attacked her and get revenge. I liked this. So many times, you see talent disappear with no explanation. I think this was good because eventually when she does come back, this can be referenced, and she can be added right back into a storyline to get revenge on whoever attacked her. Unfortunately, I do think her absence does hurt the Women of Honor division since Dashwood is one of the best ROH has.
Adam Page Promo: Very quick promo from Page talking about his match next week with Scorpio Sky. Nothing great but a short plug and promo before he and Sky wrestle next week.
The Villain Marty Scurll vs. Constellation Chris Sabin: I do not have a lot from this match other than to say this was a good one. Solid and hard hitting from both guys. Neither guy gave an inch through most of it. Sabin’s chest was purple by the time we got to the end. We got a flurry of moves right before the finishing move that saw Scurll hit Sabin with his “Graduation” finisher. Scurll pinned Sabin for the victory in a quick but good main event. I have been enjoying Sabin’s singles run. I do not think this one loss to Scurll hurts him at all. It was a competitive match that he came up short in.
MISSES
Jeff Cobb vs Punishment Martinez for the ROH World TV Title: First, this match was NOT a miss. The match was good, and Jeff Cobb will be a great ROH World TV champion. Heck, I think the guy is ROH World champ material right now. Additionally, what I am about to say sometimes cannot be avoided by the way ROH tapes and airs their episodes which I can respect. On October 1, 2018 at 10pm CST, ROH posted a link to their Facebook page. The link stated “SPOILER: New Champion Crowned At TV Taping In Las Vegas”. Now that would be fine if that is all the link stated. The problem is that the thumbnail pic for the link shows Todd Sinclair raising Jeff Cobb’s hand as Cobb holds up the ROH World TV title. Come on ROH. Why even post this to your social media with a picture of Cobb winning? You cannot avoid the spoiler due to the image of the spoiler being displayed. I get that news is bound to spread around that Cobb won but can ROH not be so obvious? I have actually gotten good at avoiding ROH spoilers over the years. But it is next to impossible to avoid when ROH post a link with an image of Cobb winning. Again, the match was fine. Cobb dominated Martinez and won relatively quickly but there was no suspense. We all knew it was coming due to the spoiler. Good match but terrible usage of social media. In the future, just include the link with a spoiler alert warning without an image of the new champ holding up the title (ROH Facebook Social Media Post – Pictured Below).
