WWE LIVE EVENT RESULTS
JULY 7, 2018
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y. AT MADISON SQUARE GARDEN
REPORT BY ADAM FROM ALLENTOWN, PWTORCH CORRRESPONDENT

The arena was full, even the upper bowl. Elias said there were about 15,000 people there (might have been an oversell for his character, but he might have been in the ballpark.)

(1) Bobby Lashley beat Jinder Mahal (w/Sunil Singh). There were “Bobby” chants at the beginning of the match. Bobby was in control during the beginning of the match displaying some power moves. Then Sunil distracted Bobby after which Jinder took over with a super kick. After a few minutes, Bobby took over again with a crossbody. When Sunil went to interfere again, Bobby ducked a Jinder clothesline that knocked Sunil off the apron. Bobby won with the Jackhammer.

(2) Cedric Alexander defeated Buddy Murphy to retain the WWE Cruiserweight Title. As Buddy came out on the ramp, he went to high five a kid, pulled his hand back, and flicked his hair sweat at the kid. The match started with Cedric and Murphy with back and forth chain wrestling. Cedric headscissored Murphy and then delivered a solid dropkick. Murphy took over with a bicycle knee to the face and a diving double kneedrop senton from the top rope. After stomping away and grounding Cedric for five minutes, Cedric hit Murphy with a superkick. Cedric hit a flurry of offense, including a dive elbow through the ropes and a springboard elbow. Murphy took over with another kick to the head while Cedric was in the corner. After multiple chops and punches back and forth, Cedric reversed “Murphy’s law” into the “Lumbar Check” for the win. This was a good match. Can’t wait until this feud develops on TV.
(3) Matt Hardy & Bray Wyatt (c) defeated The B Team and Titus Worldwide (w/Dana Brooke) to retain the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship. The Bray Wyatt entrance still is cool every time live. Everyone has their phones out for the fireflies. The B-Team started the match by running away from everyone. In the ring, Matt Hardy and Curtis Axel lead dueling “B-Team” versus “Delete” chants. The B-Team were the heels for this match and fought the other teams one at a time. The B-Team has back and forth action with Titus, Apollo, and Hardy. After a few more minutes, Matt hit the “Twist of Fate” on Titus to retain the championship. Wyatt only did a few moves the whole match. Probably still healing up from his injuries.
(4) Natalya & Bayley & Ember Moon beat Liv Morgan & Sarah Logan & Alicia Fox. The faces started off by controlling Liv Morgan and Sarah Logan. All three faces cleared the heels from the ring and hit the heels with baseball slides on the outside. The heels worked over Ember Moon for five minutes with quick tags and foiled a few hope spot tags. After a kick to Fox, Ember hot tagged Bayley. Bayley went on offense and attacked all of the heels. In the end, Bayley hit the “Bayley to Belly” on Liv Morgan for the win.
(5) Mojo Rawley defeated Bobby Roode. During Bobby’s “Glorious” entrance in the ring, Mojo hit Bobby from behind. The match started and Mojo took control with power moves and clotheslines. Bobby turned it around with a knee in the corner. Bobby hit a blockbuster and a spine buster for some good two counts. Bobby then jumped over Mojo from the top rope and landed funny on his knee. Mojo took advantage and hits the “Hyper Drive” finisher for the win.
(6) Dolph Ziggler (w/Drew McIntyre) beat Seth Rollins and Finn Balor to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Everyone yelled “Burn It Down” with Rollins’s theme song and everyone still raises their arms with Finn during his entrance. All three wrestlers beat each other up to start the match. Dolph and Seth fell to the outside. Finn went to run and dive on them, but Drew tripped him up. Triple threat means “No-DQ,” but the ref threw Drew out. On the way out, Drew dropped Seth throat-first onto the barricade. Finn and Dolph fought each other back and forth. After a few minutes, Dolph knocked Finn out of the ring, then it was Dolph and Seth fighting. Then Finn entered back into the fray and took out the other two. Rollins fought back and dove through the ropes with Finn on one side of the ring and then dove through again on the other side to hit Dolph. Rollins and Finn fought reversing all of their moves. Dolph came in to pick the bones and couldn’t put Rollins away with a “Famouser.” Dolph hit the “Zig Zag” on Finn and Finn kicked out! Rollins recovered and went for the stomp. Drew came back and distracted Rollins. Ziggler rolled up Rollins with his feet on the ropes for the win. Afterwards, Dolph and Drew came back into the ring, but Rollins and Balor did their finishers on them. Rollins was super over. I think he will be champion soon.
*Intermission*
(7) The Lucha House Party beat Drew Gulak & The Brian Kendrick & Jack Gallagher. After a sneak attack by Gulak, Grand Metalik was under heel control for the middle part of the match. After a hot tag to Kalisto, Lince Dorado hit a double stunner on Jack and Kendrick, then Kalisto hit a Salida Del Sol on both of them. Gran Metalik does a tight rope walk and a dive elbow on Gulak to win the match.
(8) Ronda Rousey beat Nia Jax with Mickey James as the special guest referee and Alexa Bliss as the enforcer at ringside.  Bliss came out and said she will not be the in-ring referee as scheduled and brought out Mickie James. Ronda came out to a HUGE POP! The match started with Jax displaying power moves. Ronda came up with strikes to knock Nia down. Mickie slowed her count down on purpose. Then Rousey delivered a Judo throw on Nia. Mickie stopped her count at two and attacked Rousey. Then Nia hit a leg drop, Alexa came in and goes to count but then attacked Nia. Both Alexa and Mickie got taken out by Nia and Ronda. The match ended with another referee running in and Ronda getting the tap out on Nia with an armbar. Ronda is awesome. Everyone loves her and cheered. She really is trying and looks like she wants to be there.
(9) Elias & Kevin Owens & “Constable” Baron Corbin beat Roman Reigns & Braun Strowman & The Undertaker. Roman got a LOUD boo when his music hit, but then got a mixed reaction as he walked the ramp. When his music stopped, everyone just paid attention to the ramp for The Undertaker. Of course, The Undertaker gets the #1 pop of the night. His music played for one minute before he came out, and when he did, the roof blew off of MSG. After he took his coat and hat off, and he music stopped, there was a huge UT chant. Strowman started off the match and attacked all the heels with his power moves. He no-sold their punches or attacks. When Strowman tagged in Reigns, the crowd booed. Either because it was Reigns or because everyone wanted the UT to tag in. Roman held Corbin by the arm and pointed to the UT. The crowd was hot for the tag, but the heels interfered. Elias, KO, and Corbin all took turns beating down Reigns. At one point in the match, KO took a swing at UT on the apron, and when UT entered the ring to attack KO, the ref stopped him to let the other heels beat down Reigns. Again, the crowd oohed and awwed at that moment and are ready to explode when UT gets in the match. Finally, Roman tagged in UT. The place went nuts. UT hit the snake eyes on Owens and landed a legdrop.  Roman speared Corbin, Braun powerslammed Elias, and UT chokeslammed and tombstoned KO for the win! After the match, Taker did the kneel pose on the middle of the ring and did his raised fist on the entrance ramp. What a way to end the show!
