HITS

Main Event – Usos vs. Team Hell No: Solid back-and-forth tag team match. The Usos carried the match bumping and selling all over for Bryan and Kane. The Usos put in some solid offense as well, especially against Kane until the babyface comeback set in and Team Hell No picked up the victory. The show ended when the Bludgeon Brothers appeared on the entrance ramp for a staredown with the number one contenders for their tag team titles.

Jeff Hardy vs. The Miz: Hardy has been suffering from multiple nagging injuries over the last month or so. Nonetheless, the “Charismatic Enigma” keeps pumping out good matches. Hardy seemed off in the beginning of the matchup but quickly picked up the pace and finished strong with a Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb combo to retain the U.S. Title against Miz.

A.J. Styles vs. Aiden English: Obviously, anything Styles touches turns to gold. Styles was interrupted by Rusev during his in-ring promo prior to his match against English. Rusev sounded confident and strong. Styles made English tap out for the quick victory. Immediately after the match Rusev laid waste to the champion with a superkick and camel clutch in the center of the ring.

MISSES

Asuka Promo: I think the world of Asuka, especially her in-ring ability. Her mystique and charisma are nearly unrivaled in the WWE. However, her promo skills are lackluster and hurt her image. The crowd is always perplexed when she speaks and there’s loud audible chants of “What?” after each sentence she completes.

New Day Pancake Segment: Thankfully it was Sanity who would save this thing. As the pancake eating contest got underway, the lights went out and Sanity entered the ring and attacked all three members of New Day.

Asuka vs. James Ellsworth: This combination needs to end and end fast. It’s unfortunate these two will “battle” once more next Tuesday night in a lumberjack match.

Becky Lynch vs. Peyton Royce: This wasn’t a bad match. It was simply blah. It moved in slow motion and the crowd was dead. WWE has found a way to drown out Lynch’s steam and it’s a shame because she deserves better.

  1. This has to be the laziest hit and miss column I have read. “The show ended when the Bludgeon Brothers appeared on the entrance ramp for a staredown with the number one contenders for their tag team titles.” Thanks for that. Thrilling coverage.

    • It wasn’t the focus of the match. This isn’t meant to be a live results column. The focus was their match against the Usos. What else are you looking for?
