-The premiere of Lucha Underground on Wednesday night on the El Rey Network drew 117,000 viewers. We’ll track the trends each week here at PWTorch.com as the fourth season continues. Lucha Underground shows two years ago in June drew viewership numbers in the 80,000 to 116,00 range, so the season premier number is on the high end of typical for this series this time of year, with a limited sample size to draw from.
-Triple H tells the UK Sun that he appreciates working with companies who cultivate and teach talent rather than just signing free agents and putting shows together. “We have an alliance with PROGRESS in the UK, a situation with ICW in Scotland, two very well run and respected promotions that do good business – but more importantly they are cultivating talent,” he said. “They are not just exploiting talent and grabbing guys to do a show with them, they are teaching talent and trying to make them better, which is what it is all about for me.” (That’s curious phrasing. Is hiring wrestlers to wrestle “exploiting them” if you aren’t also essentially a developmental territory trying to make those wrestlers better?) In the context of possibly working with New Japan, he said: “We are open to doing things with anybody or anything.”
