NXT TV PRIMER
JANUARY 10, 2017

AIRING ON WWE NETWORK & USA NETWORK
By Joey Galizia (@RamJam89), PWTorch contributor
ANNOUNCED BY WWE:
- NXT Tag Team Title rematch between The Undisputed Era and Sanity
- Shayna Baszler makes her NXT debut against Dakota Kai
“SHOCK THE SYSTEM”
While they are still the only team to have pinned the dangerous Authors of Pain, SANITY is on quite the losing streak. Leader Eric Young wasn’t able to defeat the Undisputed’s Adam Cole in singles action, and team SANITY ate the loss in the epic reimagining of WarGames out in Houston. Then, just a few weeks back, Young and Killian Dain dropped the NXT tag titles to Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly with an assist by Cole on the outside of course. Tonight, SANITY will have their shot at regaining the gold in the very same location that they lost it. Which members of SANITY will be competing? Will Alexander Wolfe prove to be the X-Factor once again? Guess you’ll have to tune in to find out.
“ACE IN THE HOLE”
If you’re looking for one of the most genuine babyfaces that NXT has ever had then look to their current women’s champ. Ember Moon has had quite the journey since her debut back at Takeover Brooklyn II, but it was not an easy road. She suffered a terrible shoulder injury that sidelined her for the big show in Chicago, and even at full strength wasn’t able to topple the division’s former queen, Asuka. (Although she shouldn’t feel bad, no one has yet.) However, her fight and determination gave her a strong following, and with the Empress gone to Monday Nights, she rightfully earned her spot at the top. With that said:
All great heroes need a villain, and Shayna Baszler is the perfect test for the glowy-eyed Moon. Shayna turned a lot of heads in the Mae Young Classic (figuratively and literally) with her impressive strength and unique transitions into her rear-naked choke finisher. She immediately went after Kairi Sane, the woman she lost to in the finals, and put her to sleep, and if you’ve been keeping up with the Performance Center videos put out by WWE’s exclusive camera crew, you’d see that she’s making life a living hell for a good portion of the division. Baszler debuts this evening against Dakota Kai. R.I.P. Dakota.
“ONE, TWO, SWEET”
-With the tag-titles on the line odds are we’ll see a new team emerge as challengers soon. The Street Profits have been winning the hearts of the fans at Full Sail, but how will they fair in a real challenge? Don’t forget about Paul Ellering’s boys. Akam and Rezar may not have been around but they clearly have unfinished business on Wednesday Nights.
-Johnny Gargano is still riding the high of winning a shot at the NXT Championship. Zelina Vega and champion Andrade Cien Almas don’t seem too concerned with Johhnny Wrestling at this time, but if their first two matches are any indication, we are in for QUITE a treat in Philadelphia.
-Another match that’s been announced for Royal Rumble weekend is Aleister Black clashing with Adam Cole. Black was seconds away from winning the fatal-four way two weeks ago until the former Bullet Club leader interfered. Cole is still upset that Black put his lights out in their qualifier, and refuses to let anyone get the best of him. Unfortunately, that means that Aleister will be coming at him with a VENGEANCE.
-Another fallout from the fatal-four way was Lars Sullivan and Killian Dain. Will these two behemoths be clashing on the 27th as well?
As a reminder spoilers are out for tonight’s taping, but even if you’ve read them you should be in for a good show. You watching?
