A WORTHY EVENT FOR TELEVISION”

The numbers for NXT may not be as high as they once were, but there is no denying that the brand as a whole has taken some dramatic steps forward in terms of presentation and product. The number of house show events for the developmental brand has increased and there bi-monthly Takeover shows continue to be the most exciting thing going on in wrestling today. Tonight, a new milestone for Wednesday nights as an episode of NXT will not only be airing on the WWE Network, but the same network that runs the flagship shows. I’m talking about U.S.A. Network. (Monk fans rejoice.) Pretty exciting stuff.

Even more exciting is the fact that tonight’s main event will include two very popular superstars active for NXT. Adam Cole (along with O’Reilly and Fish) continues to put the entire locker room on notice. He’s riding a wave of momentum after scoring the winning pinfall in the first WarGames match of the last 20 years. His opponent: the Voodoo strong style ass-kicker Aleister Black, who has yet to lose since he signed with the WWE. (Not counting when he still went by Tommy End in the U.K. tournament shut up marks.) The winner joins Johnny Gargano and Killian Dain in a Fatal-Four way to determine the next contender for the NXT Championship. Can Black survive an encounter with the Undisputed?

EL IDOLO STAND ATOP HIS THRONE”

Speaking of the NXT Champion, Andrade Cien’ Almas has already been gloating to the wrestling-universe about his triumph at Houston. He and Zelina Vega are prepared to carry the company atop their shoulders as they await Andrade’s next challenger. Until then he’ll continue to do what he does best: wrestle his little luchador ass-off. This evening he takes on the very talented Fabian Aichner who not only showed his worth during the Cruiserweight Classic, but also has notched a big victory over Johnny Wrestling in his last outing. Could Fabian upset the champ? With Zelina around, not likely jefe.

A BLOOD WAR ENDS WHEN THE ECLIPSE FALLS”

There’s something about Billie Kaye and Peyton Royce that is irritatingly charming. They are both vastly improved in-ring performers (Royce especially) and have found a way to make every woman in the division hate their guts. That includes new champion Ember Moon who can’t even get through a press conference without the Duo showing up to spit charismatic nonsense. Ember may not have that same aura she once did as an underdog, but I’m ready to watch her transition into a fighting champion. As for tonight, Ember will clash with Royce with Billie most likely making a cameo at ringside, but nothing seems like it’ll be able to halt Moon’s current momentum.

A BITTER END”

-The Authors of Pain may not have been victorious at Houston, but they are adamant about sticking around in case they get a fair tag-title rematch. They will be in action against the newly formed Danny Burch and Oney Lorcan.

-Roderick Strong maybe a family man, he may be a fantastic performer, and he may be a solid babyface that we can get behind, but none of that seems like it will help him as he prepares to square off against Lars Sullivan for that final Fatal-Four way spot. Here’s to hoping that the messiah of the backbreaker has a gameplan.

SANITY may still hold the tag-belts at this time, but based on what happened at WarGames, don’t’ be surprised if the Undisputed’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly step up to the plate.

-Big matchups announced for next week as well: Besides Sullivan and Strong, we get Tyler Bate vs. Pete Dunne 3 for the United Kingdom championship. Bate gets a shot since he pinned Dunne in tag-action a couple of weeks ago. Can the two top their Chicago MOTY candidate? Of course they can. The story is still being told and that’s all that matters.

NXT on U.S.A. Not TBS or TNT. OMG. I’M so F.E.A.R. Sorry got acronym excited. You watching?
