“THE WAR THAT LOOMS IN THE BACK”
Since Takeover Brooklyn the Undisputed have provoked the NXT roster with sneak attacks and punishing beat downs. Their first targets that night were the newly crowned tag-team champions SANITY, a group that since its debut had implored in similar tactics, but has transitioned into a more stable faction. This angered Eric Young who hasn’t even had a chance to bask in the triumph of his first WWE title, and promised Adam Cole, Bobby Fish, and Kyle O’Reilly that if it’s a fight that they want…it’s a fight that they’ll get.
This led to a matchup between the two stable leaders where Adam Cole would emerge victorious over the overconfident E.Y. (Thanks to an assist from his crew of course.) Now the two groups will settle their differences in six-man action tonight in Full Sail. However, with WarGames looming in the background, don’t forget about the Authors of Pain who have been M.I.A. since they lost their straps at Barclays.
“HE’S RAW, HE CAN LAY THE SMACKDOWN ON ANYBODY, AND HE’S THE NXT CHAMPION.”
Drew McIntyre has come a long way since he was once dubbed the “chosen one” of the WWE. Instead, he traveled the world, honed his craft, and has returned a stronger, better, and more confident superstar than ever before. He’s already proven his worth, capturing the NXT Championship from Bobby Roode and successfully defending it against his first challenger in Roderick Strong. This evening Drew will give an exclusive interview about his future in NXT. That may include how he feels about Strong possibly colluding with the Undisputed, and who his next challenger may be.
“THE MOON GLOWS RED”
Another ongoing saga for Wednesday nights are the qualifiers for the NXT women’s championship match in Houston. So far, Mae Young Classic Winner Kairi Sane and one-half of the dynamic duo Peyton Royce have earned their spots in the Fatal-Four way. Tonight, a third spot will be claimed as Sonya Deville, Ruby Riot, and a returning Ember Moon do battle. Ember hasn’t been inside of a ring since her latest attempt at dethroning the former champion Asuka, and one wonders if she still has the same self-assurance she once had when entering the division. With Asuka gone, something tells me we’ll be seeing her compete for the strap come Survivor Series weekend.
“COULD IT ALL BE A DREAM?”
-The Velveteen Dream continues to taunt the deadly Aleister Black. He made quick work of Lio Rush and will continue to stalk the tattooed voodoo warrior until he says his name. Black meanwhile will be in action this evening, and will probably continue to refer to the Dream by his real name…Patrick.
-Johnny Gargano put up quite an effort, but he once again fell short in his battle against Andrade Cien Almas. Andrade is now on a massive win streak, and has every claim to challenge for the NXT Championship, something his manager Zolita Vega is well aware of.
-Even the United Kingdom division of NXT has been targeted by the Undisputed. Will we be seeing Pete Dunne, Wolfgang, and Mustache Mountain anytime soon?
Tapings of this show happened weeks ago and we’ve already got another round before the big reveal of the next Takeover Show. But don’t concern yourself with that just yet, as tonight should be an exciting hour of wrestling.
