SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
GWF IMPACT WRESTLING LIVE EVENTZ
AUGUST 5, 2017
STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. AT THE RICHMOND COUNTY BALLPARK
REPORT BY EVAN GINZBERG, PWTORCH CORRESPONDENT
A sadly sparse crowd of under 1,000 in the Richmond County Bank Ballpark (home of the NY Yankees farm team) watched a decent enough card of pro wrestling. Felt like a better-than-average poorly attended indy, albeit with some bigger names.
(1) Fallah Bahh beat KM in opener.
(2) Pat Buck & Anthony Bowens & Dan Maff beat The Heavenly Bodies. Entertaining and better than most of the matches on the show with the supposed “bigger TV stars.”
(3) Trevor Lee beat Mario Bokara. They tried hard, but pretty workmanlike.
(4) Taya Valkyrie beat Sienna and Allie.
(5) Eli Drake beat Braxton Sutter. Drake was charismatic, but nothing special here.
(6) LAX’s Santana & Ortiz beat Sonjay Dutt & Drago. Match of the night. Non-stop action. Sonjay put on a wrestling clinic.
(7) Moose & John Hennigan & James Storm beat Bobby Lashley & EC3 & Low-Ki. Enjoyable with some good moments and great moves, but is this slapped together six-man really the best they could do for the main event in the NY market? Low Ki vs. Hennigan singles match would have burned the building down. Not bad for what it was, but nothing I’ll remember five years from now.
FINAL THOUGHTS: File this one under “I’ve seen much better and seen much worse…” but you have to question, given their excellent talent roster, couldn’t they have booked a card that at least FELT more important for a baseball STADIUM?

This is the best you’re going to get from the “Jarrett is Russo’ GFW. 1000 is better than 250 which is what he drew last time he did stadium shows. But he obviously thinks throwing oatmeal against a wall and hoping it sticks(and hopes nobody knows the wiser) isn all he can really muster. Just look at most of the tv shows and how there’s no continuity to storylines. Low-Ki vs Hennigan would’ve been tons better but Jarrett really doesn’t have much of a clue when it comes to this. And it shows. Very obviously, it shows.
