“FOR THE FIRST (SECOND) TIME EVER”
The first attempt for the women to make history was thwarted by a tiny man named James Ellsworth. He thought it was fair to enter the Money in the Bank match, climb the ladder, and retrieve the briefcase for the princess of Staten Island. Fans hated it, and so did the ladies. Fortunately for us, a returning Daniel Bryan took possession of the briefcase, and booked a rematch. That rematch happens tonight in San Diego, where once again Charlotte, Becky Lynch, Tamina, Natalya, and Carmella will duke it out in order to be crowned the first ever MITB winner for the division.
Meanwhile, the champion Naomi will have her hands filled with the ravishing Russian Lana. Lana claimed that she was distracted during their last title bout, and demanded to get another shot at the Glow queen without said distractions. Naomi didn’t complain, because she’s a true babyface. (Still the only babyface champion in the entire brand LOLZ.) It will be interesting if the MITB match happens first, because with Raw proving that it can put on a slew of good shows, a cash-in could very well happen for SD to recapture some of its former glory.
“HOMETOWN HERO”
Kevin Owens may not be the WWE champion, but SD Live certainly feels like he is the main attraction. Last week he restarted the U.S. Title Open Challenge, but added an original spin: The challenger he faces must be a hometown native. Chad Gable would step up to the plate but fall just short to the face of America. A.J. Styles was there to cheer him on. When does SD go back to Atlanta?
“GET SMART”
-Since winning the Money in the Bank, Baron Corbin has already teased a cash-in on Jinder Mahal. However, when he isn’t playing MIND GAMES, he’s trying to make Sami Zayn’s life a living hell. The two will face each other once again this evening.
-Speaking of Jinder, he may have defended his title successfully against Seth Rollins and Shinsuke Nakamura at house shows, but the Viper Randy Orton isn’t done hunting him yet.
-The Usos weren’t man enough to finish their epic encounter with The New Day for the titles. They walked out just as the sequences were really heating up, and the crowd was red hot to see a victor. Big E scored a victory for the Unicorn Train last week, but with Mojo Rawley and Zack Ryder starting to heat up, who…WHO…WHOOOOOO….will it be challenging the Samoans next?
-Tye Dillinger made an appearance last week! Two in a row maybe? Or could they like, just send him back to NXT?
-Also where is Mike and Maria?
-Shinsuke Nakamura remains as popular as ever, and as dominant as ever. But with Summerslam starting to approach, I believe it is time to give him that high stakes main event caliber feud, and no offense, but that won’t be Dolph Ziggler.
-205 after!
