“AS SUBTLE AS A CAR WRECK.”
Tonight in Kentucky a Six-Pack Challenge will take place determining the new no. 1 contender for the WWE Championship. It seems that GM Daniel Bryan and commissioner Shane McMahon are always ensuring that there is a future program for the blue brand, and odds are everyone knows that Orton will be retaining against Bray at Payback anyway. (The fix is in!) The question is who will it be? With A.J. Styles locked in as the no. 1 contender for the United States Championship, he will not be participating (as of yet) in the main event scene. According to WWE’s Twitter, it’ll be Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, Dolph Ziggler, Mojo Rawley (kill me), Jinder Mahal, and “The Likeable one” Sami Zayn facing off. There’s already an ongoing feud between Mahal and Rawley, Harper and Rowan have a long history of descension, and Ziggler seems to have attracted the attention of a certain KING of STRONG STYLE. Does that mean we could potentially be witnessing a Sami Zayn world title scenario? GUESS WE’LL HAVE TO TUNE IN TO FIND OUT.
“NEW SHOW, SAME ATTITUDE.”
Kevin Owen’s is already taking control of his new opportunity. He opened SD last week exclaiming how important he was and how vital his U.S. Championship was to the WWE. On the brand where they still have a heavyweight championship, K.O. has made it apparent which belt is really the most important. Assuming that he defeats Y2J at Payback (Why would I assume that? Cough Fozzie cough.) will Owens be ready to step into the ring with the Phenomenal One? These two have squared off before on Raw, but that was at a time when neither man was remotely close to there elevated star-power.
“FEEL THE GLOW… FOR NOW.”
I say this on a weekly basis, but Smackdown has always been the home to the more proficient storytelling for the women. Current champion Naomi spent eight years searching for her identity, and for nearly eight years the WWE Universe wasn’t interested. Flash forward to now, where she not only has one of the better developed characters, but the cheers and support from every arena crowd. Thanks to the Superstar Shake-up, she now has two potential new threats to her newly acquired throne. Charlotte has been the IT athlete in the entirety of the Women’s Division so she’ll be looking to make moves early, but I believe it’s Naomi’s former partner Tamina who may be looking for a fight against the Glow Queen.
“ONE, TWO, TEN.”
-Tye Dillinger has a winning streak on the main roster after defeating the likes of Curt Hawkins and Aiden English. Not sure if there is any clear direction for him, but he continues to be the most over man in wrestling.
-Jimmy & Jey’s anger towards American Alpha may slowly dissipate after their successful defense of their tag team championships. Jordan and Gable were jumped post-match by Primo & Epico, which means that in order to get back to the top, they’ve got to start from the bottom.
-Baron Corbin has been putting on wrestling clinics on a weekly basis for SD Live, but that wasn’t enough to earn him a victory in last week’s triple-threat match with Styles and Zayn. However, Corbin wasn’t the one who ate the pin, so he’s probably PLENTY pissed off about once again being stepped over.
The main event alone makes this one worth checking out. 205 Live after! JG out.
