SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

WWE Raw house show report
December 2, 2006
Asheville, N.C. at the Civic Center
Report by Jason Surrett, PWTorch VIP member

The Civic Center was completely full on the floor and I’d say about 60 percent of the balcony was full.

Maria was the ring announcer for the show and they had a contest where a certain ticket holder would get to be the guest bell ringer for the third match. Turns out the winner(s) were two VERY EXCITED kids that were behind me waiting to get into the building.

(1) The Highlanders beat The Spirit Squad (Nicky & Mikey) when Rory pinned Nickey after a double inverted slingshot suplex.

(2) “The Big Deal” Dan Rodimer pinned Val Venis after a double-leg hook with his feet on the ropes for leverage.

(3) “Hacksaw” Jim Duggan pinned Eugene with a roll-up

(4) Jerry “The King” Lawler pinned “The Masterpiece” Chris Masters with a double-leg hook

(5) Mickie James pinned Victoria with a roll-up after countering the Widow’s Peak to retain the WWE Womens Championship

(6) Carlito defeated Kenny and Shelton Benjamin in a triple threat match when he pinned Kenny after the Back Cracker

There was an intermission that lasted less than five minutes

(7) Cryme Tyme beat Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch when Shad pinned Cade after the G-Line

(8) Triple H defeated Randy Orton with the Pedigree

(9) John Cena defeated Umaga via disqualification when Armando Alejandro Estrada interfered to retain the WWE Championship.

Shawn Michaels (as part of DX), Jeff Hardy, Ric Flair, Oleg Prudius, Harry Smith, and Johnny Nitro were all advertised, but did not show.

Biggest Pops
1 – Cena
2 – Triple H
3 – Carlito/The mention of Ric Flair’s name.

Most Heat
1 – The Spirit Squad
2 – Randy Orton
3 – Umaga

FINAL NOTES: I would just like to add a little comment to this post. I have been a wrestling fan for over twenty years and I’ve attended a lot of live shows, but this by far had to be the worst arena event I have ever attended. Most people in the crowd were casual wrestling fans and didn’t even know most of the people. If Vince McMahon and company don’t do something now, WWE will be the next sinking ship in pro wrestling, because this show reminded me of a WCW show circa 2000.
