11/6 WWE in Leeds, England: Owen vs. Seth, Reigns cheered, Backlund introduced but doesn’t appear, Neville gets no love in home country,

WWE LIVE EVENT RESULTS

LEEDS, ENGLAND

Arena had the top section curtained off with the open part all full.

(1) New Day (Big E & Kofi Kingston) beat Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson and Enzo & Amore & Big Cass and Cesaro & Sheamus after a Midnight Hour on Anderson. New Day and Enzo & Cass were over huge. At one point Cesaro did the swing on four other wrestlers in a row. Very entertaining bout.

(2) Nevile beat Bo Dallas with the Red Arrow. Not much reaction for Neville despite being announced from England. He must have been gutted to have not been with the Smackdown roster in his home town of Newcastle tonight.

(3) Golden Truth & Darren Young beat Shining Stars & Titus O’Neil. Ring announcer JoJo announced Young as accompanied by Bob Backlund, even though he wasn’t there. 

(4) Sami Zayn defeated Chris Jericho. Massive ovation for Jericho, and rightfully so. He did pre-match mic work that was brilliant. The crowd was desperate for him to put us all on the list, but in true heel form, he would not. In a slightly surprising finish, Zayn won with the Blue Thunder Bomb.

(5) Roman Reigns pinned Rusev to retain the U.S. Title with a spear. In a funny moment, referee John Kone sent Lana to the back. In doing the ejection mannerisms, Kone did a cartwheel then pointed for her to go to the back. Good match. Reigns got mostly cheers, not much booing at all.

(6) Sin Cara beat Curtis Axel with a Swanton Bomb. Sin Cara has new music.

(7) Bayley & Sasha Banks & Alicia Fox beat Charlotte & Dana Brooke & Nia Jax, when Bayley hit the Belly-to-Bayley on Brooke and special referee Emma counted the 1, 2, 3.

(8) Kevin Owens beat Seth Rollins in a streetfight using a kendo stick for a low blow and then rolling up Rollins. After the match Seth powerbombed Kev through a table. Post-match, Rollins thanked Leeds for their love and said how awful it was this time last year when he got injured over here (technically overseas in Dublin) and said it was great to be here.

FINAL NOTES: WWE doesn’t return in May, but hopefully will be next November… On a personal note, today was my 30th birthday and the show was very enjoyable. No blowaway matches, but that is somewhat expected on a house show. Just a solid show and some real good comedy that would not usually make TV.
