SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Minute-by-minute viewership info obtained by PWTorch for WWE Monday Night Raw the last two Mondays indicates Goldberg clearly made a big difference.

This week, for some perspective, the second hour of the show closed with 1.550 million viewers in the 18-49 demographic, compared to 1.377 million last week, so viewership was higher in general. The number stayed higher throughout the hour, but surged at the end of the third hour and into the overrun, with a peak range of 1.773 to 1.924 million for the Goldberg segment compared to a range during the same time period last week of 1.071 to 1.263 million.

So there were 500,000-700,000 additional viewers just in the 18-49 demo for the Goldberg segment compared to the overrun the prior week which featured Chris Jericho vs. Seth Rollins. From a percentage standpoint, that’s around a 50 percent jump.

Keller’s Analysis: There was a lot of anticipation for Goldberg’s arrival, and his performance lived up to the highest hopes. Where WWE goes from here with Paul Heyman and Brock Lesnar will be a big part of whether WWE can parlay this into something more than a ten minute ratings pop for Raw. Goldberg not only still has “it,” he seemed to have a confidence and presence that he hadn’t had years ago during main time in WCW and later WWE.
