SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...

Dolph Ziggler was interviewed by Michael Cole in the weekly interview on WWE’s website.

Ziggler and Cole wove a story of WWE fiction and behind-the-scenes politics in “worked shoot” mode trying to prop up Ziggler before challenging for the WWE World Title at Summerslam.

Ziggler did not mention the actual WWE champion Dean Ambrose by name during the interview, focusing on the question of “what have you been doing the last two years?”

Ziggler talked about trying to kick down the door, being told he wasn’t the right guy to be a top star, getting tired of fighting against the system, no longer trying to “steal the show,” and the audience getting tired of waiting for him to fulfill what he always talked about.

Now that Ziggler became #1 contender, Cole asked Ziggler if he’s going to win the WWE Title at Summerslam. Ziggler said he has to. He said the audience won’t believe in his latest journey to reach the top unless he does win because of how bad it was the past two years.

“If this is my last chance, which I’ve thought for the last 10 years three different times it was my last chance, if this is it, you will see everything you’ve ever seen from me and then some,” Ziggler said.

“There’s nothing left to chance; nothing left to leave out; nothing left that I wish I would have said this, done this, or worked just that much harder. Every single thing I’ve done since five-years-old was to get to right now. And, it’s going to happen at Summerslam one way or another.

“Whether I’m supposed to win, or not supposed to win, I’m going to.”
