SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Brock Lesnar returned to WWE TV for the first time since WrestleMania Monday night on Raw.
The result was taking an RKO “outta nowhere” from Randy Orton, who “crossed over” the brand split lines.
The set-up was Paul Heyman lulling the crowd to sleep with a promo hyping Lesnar vs. Orton at Summerslam three hours into Raw TV.
Suddenly, Orton hit the ring and RKO’ed Lesnar, popping the crowd. Referees, security, and Raw authority figures then stormed out to protest Orton’s appearance on Raw from the Smackdown brand.
Raw went off the air with back-and-forth shots of Orton posing with excited crowd members far away from Raw’s authority figures and Lesnar recovering in the ring.
During Heyman’s promo, there were no references to Lesnar’s drug-testing violations following his UFC return fight. Heyman stuck to the result of Lesnar dominating the octagon before returning to WWE to conquer Randy Orton at Summerslam.
