WWE Backlash returning as Smackdown brand PPV

WWE is officially bringing back Backlash as a Smackdown brand Sunday night PPV.

The event will be Sunday, September 11 on WWE Network from Richmond, Virginia.

WWE has not held Backlash in seven years going back to April 2009 as the post-WrestleMania 25 PPV event.

WWE will also hold a Raw-exclusive PPV on September 25, Clash of Champions, replacing Night of Champions.
