ROH announces first match for DBD PPV – Shibata’s ROH debut match

Ring of Honor announced Tuesday the first match for their next PPV, “Death Before Dishonor,” on August 19 from Las Vegas.

New Japan’s NEVER Openweight champion Shibata will face Silas Young in a curious singles match.

Young has mainly been in opening or second matches on ROH PPVs and is now paired up with one of New Japan’s top stars in Shibata’s ROH debut match.

At the last ROH PPV, Best in the World,” Young lost to A.C.H. in the second match of the show. The PPV before, at “Global Wars,” Young was not on the main PPV. Same with the 14th Anniversary show in February.

ROH is incorporating this into the explanation for why the match is taking place, with Silas’s character being upset at New Japan stars for “taking spots” on the ROH PPVs.
