Michael Elgin captures more title gold Saturday night in Mexico (w/Photo Gallery)

Last weekend, Michael Elgin captured the IWGP Intercontinental Title at New Japan’s “Dominion” PPV.

This weekend, Elgin captured CMLL’s first-ever Elite International Title (Campeón MUNDIAL Élite) in Mexico.

Elgin won the finals of a tournament Saturday night at Arena Mexico in Mexico City, last defeating Volador, Jr. in a battle of Canada and Mexico.

Elgin traveled with New Japan wrestlers KUSHIDA, Tama Tonga, and Tanga Loa to Mexico for the tournament. Also included were TNA wrestlers Bram and D.J. Zema, ROH star Lio Rush, and ECW legend Sabu.

  • Bram beat Sabu in the quarterfinals
  • KUSHIDA beat D.J. Zema in the quarterfinals
  • Michael Elgin beat Lio Rush in the quarterfinals
  • Volador, Jr. beat Tama Tonga in the quarterfinals
  • Elgin beat Bram in the semi-finals
  • Volador beat KUSHIDA in the semi-finals
  • Elgin beat Volador in the finals to win the title

Next up on the tour is an international Grand Prix – Mexico vs. The World – on Friday, July 1 featuring Elgin’s team against Volador’s team. The event will be available on iPPV.
