SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Jerry Lawler is officially off Smackdown commentary this week while suspended indefinitely by WWE.
Lawler’s replacement on this week’s Smackdown is David Otunga, who was recently moved from the Raw pre-show panel to commentary on Superstars and Main Event.
Since WWE tapes Main Event along with Smackdown on Tuesday nights, WWE simply moved Otunga to Smackdown while Lawler waits to be reinstated.
It’s likely Lawler will not be on commentary next week, either, as Lawler has to wait until his next court date of July 1 to attempt to resolve the legal matter of his domestic violence arrest.
Last Thursday/early Friday, Lawler and his fiancee Lauryn McBride were arrested on charges of domestic violence. WWE then suspended Lawler indefinitely.
In a radio interview on Saturday, Lawler downplayed the arrest, claiming it was a private argument that got heated with no injuries. Lawler and McBride appeared in court on Monday, where the judge told them to stay away from each other until a second hearing on July 1. (Full Coverage)
