6/19 NJPW Dominion News & Notes – five title changes, CHAOS vs. L.I.J., Bullet Club, Jay White’s farewell

NJPW Dominion PPV News & Notes 6/19

– Kazuchika Okada re-captured the IWGP World Title from Naito in the main event.

Okada ended Naito’s brief title reign in his title re-match after Naito captured the title from Okada at “Invasion Attack” in April.

Okada now heads into the G1 Climax tournament as top champion, which he noted in a post-match promo.

– There were five title changes in total on the show. The only champion who retained was IWGP Jr. Hvt. champion KUSHIDA over Best of the Super Jrs. tournament winner Will Ospreay…

– Shibata re-captured the NEVER Openweight Title from Yuji Nagata to conclude his humbling process earning the respect of the third generation.

Afterward, Shibata was endorsed by Nagata, Kojima, Tenzan, and Nakanishi as New Japan continues building up Shibata to enter the top tier of the roster.

– Michael Elgin captured the IWGP IC Title from Kenny Omega in the first-ever NJPW ladder match. The match went 33 minutes and included babyfaces neutralizing Bullet Club’s interference to allow Elgin to climb the ladder and win the title.

– ROH tag team The Briscoes won the IWGP World Tag Titles from Bullet Club’s “Guerrillas of Destiny” tag team. It was the Briscoes’s first Tag Title victory in New Japan.

Afterward, Bullet Club members Adam Page and Yujiro Takahashi attacked The Briscoes, which the Briscoes had something to say about in a post-match interview released by ROH.

– The Bullet Club did not leave Dominion empty-handed, as the Young Bucks re-captured the IWGP Jr. Hvt. Tag Titles.

The Bucks won the match in a four-team match involving defending champions Matt Sydal & Ricochet, RPG Vice, and ReDragon.

The Bucks are now IWGP Jr. Hvt. tag champions and NEVER Openweight Six-man Tag champions with Kenny Omega.

– CHAOS went 3-0 against L.I.J. on the show. In addition to Okada beating Naito in the main event, Tomohiro Ishii & YOSHI-HASHI beat Sanada & BUSHI and Goto beat EVIL.

– On the pre-show, Jay White lost his farewell match. White now heads to Ring of Honor for a U.S. excursion on loan from New Japan.
