– Former WWE announcer Jim Ross published his review of the show at jrsbarbq.com.
– Samoa Joe ended his feud with Finn Balor by retaining the NXT Title in a steel cage match. Joe ended Balor with a super-Musclebuster from the top turnbuckle after Balor tried to escape out of the cage.
The Takeover special ended with Joe established as the new dominant force in NXT, while Balor sold injuries after the match.
– The Revival (Dash & Dawson) re-captured the NXT Tag Titles from American Alpha (Chad Gable & Jason Jordan) in a strong Tag Title match.
– Legendary wrestling manager Paul Ellering made a surprise debut as a manager for the new tag team Authors of Pain, who were not identified by the announcers. The monstrous tag team attacked Jordan & Gable after they lost the Tag Titles, then Ellering came out on-stage to indicate his role as the team’s manager.
– Shinsuke Nakamura beat Austin Aries in a de facto #1 contender match to the NXT Title.
– Asuka retained the Women’s Title over Nia Jax in the semi-main event.
– Andrade “Cien” Almas made his NXT: Takeover debut in a victory over Tye Dillinger.
– Former TNA star Bobby Roode made a backstage appearance brushing past NXT GM William Regal wanting a chat.
– Injured WWE star/former NXT champion Neville was shown in the crowd prior to the NXT Title main event.
