All-time wrestling attraction Andre the Giant would have turned 70-years-old today (May 19).
WWE released a two-minute video package documenting Andre’s history and headlining role in WWF/E.
Also, the New York Daily News published a feature on Andre, including recollections of Vince McMahon, Sr. seeing Andre for the first time and knowing he would become a worldwide star.
Earlier this month, plans were officially announced for a biography movie on Andre. Lion Forge Comics, Stone Village Productions, the authors of a new biography on Andre, and Andre’s daughter Robin Christensen-Roussimoff are collaborating on the movie project, reported Variety.
The feature film will bring to life the 2015 book “Andre the Giant: Closer to Heaven” that focuses on Andre’s journey from the family farm in France to headlining wrestling cards around the world, while battling gigantism.
On Thursday afternoon, WWE executive Stephanie McMahon tweeted on her all-time favorite wrestler, who has become a part of WrestleMania with the annual Andre the Giant Memorial battle royal.
Later, WWE CEO Vince McMahon, Jr. tweeted his birthday wishes to Andre.
