SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)...
Ric Flair says he’s not sure how long he will be on WWE TV with his daughter Charlotte, but he’s enjoying the ride.
“I have no idea how long this will last. Charlotte is flying high right now. I don’t think she needs me, but it’s a good storyline for TV. She doesn’t need me to be successful,” Flair said in an interview with MLive.com.
“She has people booing her, which is hard to do. Next to Stephanie McMahon, she’s probably the hottest bad girl in the company. She’s got heat and it’s made the whole division better. It makes it more fun for the audience and the wrestlers competing in the matches. That’s what we had for years with the Horsemen. Fans hated The Four Horsemen.”
Flair added that he wants to work with current WWE World Hvt. champion Roman Reigns while on television. “I’d really love to work with Roman Reigns,” Flair said, adding that his other favorites on the roster are Seth Rollins, Dean Ambrose, and Dolph Ziggler.
Flair talked to MLive.com to promote a big Four Horsemen reunion this weekend at the Motor City Comic-Con.
Flair, Arn Anderson, Tully Blanchard, Barry Windham, and J.J. Dillon are all scheduled for Saturday and Sunday at the Suburban Collection in Novi, Mich.
“It’s just hard (to make this happen) because I work all the time,” Flair said. “Arn works all the time, Barry has had some health issues, and J.J. works at a correctional institute. But, it’s all good because we’re all getting together. The first appearance we did was so successful, it was scary.”
Flair added that he plans to return to Michigan during the upcoming college football season to support Wolverines head coach Jim Harbaugh. “I’ll be at three or four of the games this season on the sidelines,” Flair said.
The entire problem with this storyline is that you’re injecting Ric Flair into the Women’s wrestling program, which is contrary to the entire rise of that division on the backs of the actual contributors. The WOMEN don’t need a MAN as the center of their story.
I don’t think that he is the center of the story. It may have started off that way, but Charlotte has dine a fine job of stepping into her own spotlight, and Ric doesn’t overshadow. Payback was a mess, I’ll admit- but I believe Charlotte can ditch her dad and fly solo or get one of the other women (say Summer Rae) to manage her and she’d still be a great heel.
