Packed house. They didn’t have anyone in the upper levels. Curious that WWE wouldn’t put those seats for sale, but the lower level seemed about 90 percent full. Very intimate venue for wrestling.
They had a huge screen for the entrances, which was great. Most house shows I go to don’t even have that. The fans were great and were chanting the whole show.
(1) No Way Jose beat Blake.
(2) Riddick Moss beat local wrestler John Skyler.
(3) Carmella beat Peyton Royce. Carmella is drop dead gorgeous and was very over with crowd.
(4) NXT tag champions American Alpha (Jason Jordan & Chad Gable) beat The Revival (Dash & Dawson). Another good match from these two teams. Very fun. The crowd was into it.
(5) “The Drifter” Elias Samson beat Alex Riley. Drifter had Riley in a headlock for what seemed like an eternity. The crowd was chanting “chinlock city” and booing this match from the start. By far the worst match.
(6) NXT Women’s champion Asuka beat Eva Marie to retain her Women’s Title, following up on Thursday’s angle. Eva Marie could do no right. She’s gotten better in the ring… but the crowd just hated her. Asuka gave up too much offense, I thought, but it was fine.
(7) Nakamura beat Manny Andrade. Great match. This was Nakamura’s first singles house show match, and it was a fun showcase match. The crowd treated these guys like superstars. Nakamura got cut in the middle of the match. Doctors treated him immediately. But, nothing like Joe vs. Balor.
(8) NXT champion Finn Balor & Austin Aries beat Baron Corbin & Tye Dillinger. Very fun main event. Corbin got great heat and Balor got the best reaction of the night. Balor and Nakamura were close.
This was my first NXT show and it didn’t disappoint. Great matches and it felt like a big deal. NXT crowds are best. I love the personalized poster with the line-up on it. Definitely recommended for readers.
