2/6 WWE in San Jose – Full Report on Lesnar vs. Rusev, Styles’s house show debut, Reigns vs. Del Rio

We got there just as the show started and the wait to get into the building wasn’t long and went pretty fast. Inside the arena (SJ Sharktank/HP Pavillion/SAP Center) the bottom half was pretty full. Up top, the fans were pretty sparse and about half the top was tarped off. The entrance took up about a quarter of the building as well, so a guess in attendance would be 4,000-ish. (But I could be wrong)

(1) A.J. Styles beat The Miz via submission in his WWE house show debut match. A.J. won with the Calf Crusher. A.J. was loved by the fans, and they were chanting “A.J.” very loudly.

(2) Enzo Amore & Big Cass from NXT beat The Ascension (Konnor & Viktor).

(3) Jack Swagger defeat Curtis Axel.

At this point, they ask a teenage girl who she thought would win the #1 contender match at Fast Lane. She said RONAN REIGNS! and the crowd booed her.

(4) Lucha Dragons (U.S. champion Kalisto & Sin Cara) beat Los Matadores (Diego y Fernando). The Matadores were the heels, using the Dragons’s shirt to wipe their armpits.

Rusev, with Lana, came out next. She grabbed the mic and ran down the audience. She that they just talked to President Putin, they all thought the NFL was wasting their time holding the Super Bowl in San Jose and it should be held in a real city like Moscow. But, if the Super Bowl has to be in the United States, how about a much better place, like San Francisco?

Brock Lesnar’s music hit to bring out The Beast with Paul Heyman to a loud pop. Paul got on the mic and said he thinks no one can understand Lana because she’s Russian, and her client is Russian, but tonight the only place they are going to rush is to Suplex City. Heyman said that tonight Brock is the United States and he would destroy Rusev. The bell rang…

(5) Brock Lesnar (w/Paul Heyman) beat Rusev (wLana). A little back-and-forth followed by four supelxes, an F5, and the 1-23. Heyman and Lesnar started to leave, but Lana grabbed the mic and said, “NOOO NOOO I DIDN’T HEAR THE BELL, RUSEV DIDN’T HEAR THE BELL…” Brock then slid back into the ring, running off Lana mid-sentence. He gave Rusev a couple more suplexes before leaving the arena.

[Intermission]

(6) Divas champion Charlotte beat Becky Lynch to retain the Divas Title. A really good match. Lots of “We Want Sasha” chants.

(7) Ryback (or Ryberg) & The Usos beat WWE tag champions New Day (Big E. & Kofi Kingston & Xavier Woods) in a six-man tag match.

(8) Roman Reigns beat Alberto Del Rio in the main event.

Not a great show, but a show nonetheless.
