WWE Studios has partnered with Blumhouse Productions to buy a new indies movie titled “Sleight,” reports Variety and Hollywood Reporter.

The thriller/science fiction movie about a street magician in Los Angeles premiered at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, which is where WWE got on-board.

Sleight is a smart, fresh, and ambitious movie that was different from anything else we saw at the festival,” said WWE Studios president Michael Luisi. “We are thrilled to … bring J.D. Dillard’s compelling first feature to audiences worldwide.”

J.D. Dillard is the director/writer of the movie, which drew in Blumhouse because of its creativity. “We love low-budget filmmaking because it allows directors to take creative risks and that is exactly what J.D. Dillard did with Sleight, a truly original and unique movie. We are excited to once again collaborate with Michael and WWE Studios,” said Blumhouse CEO Jason Blum.

“Sleight” will be marketed on WWE TV and digital platforms. WWE hopes to push the movie to a theatrical release, but that has not been worked out yet.

As part of the report, Hollywood Reporter released WWE’s upcoming movie release schedule:

  • Incarnate (starring Aaron Eckhart)
  • Brother’s Blood (starring Trey Songz and R-Truth)
  • Killing Hasselhoff (starring David Hasselhoff and Ken Jeong)
  • Sleight
